Butterfly Luncheon Set Pattern #S-43
A luncheon set featuring crocheted butterflies sewn onto organdy, including place doily, bread and butter plate doily, and glass doily sizes.

Pattern instructions
Place Doily Butterfly Wing
PLACE DOILY-BUTTERFLY (Make 10)-Wing (Make 2) ... Starting at lower edge with Lemon and Pink, ch 20.
Tr in 8th ch from hook, tr in next ch, ch 2, skip 2 ch, dc in next 2 ch, ch 2, skip 2 ch, sc in next 4 ch; insert hook in next ch, draw loop through, drop Lemon and Pink, pick up Blue and draw a loop through, thus changing color. Ch 1, turn.
Sc in next 5 sts, (4 sc in next sp, sc in next 2 sts) twice; 15 sc in loop. Now, working along opposite side of starting chain, (Sc in next 2 ch, 3 sc in sp) twice; sc in next 5 ch. Ch 1, turn.
Working in back loop only, sc in next 20 sc. Drop Blue.
Pick up Lemon and Pink, draw loop through first sc, sc in same place, sc in next 4 sc, ch 3, skip 3 sc, dc in next 2 sc, ch 3, skip 3 sc, tr in next 2 sc, ch 3, skip 2 sc, 2 dtr in next sc, ch 2, skip next sc, tr tr in next sc. Pass ball of Lemon and Pink through loop on hook to secure st. Drop Lemon and Pink, pick up Blue. Turn.
15 sc over bar of tr tr, 4 sc in ch-2 sp, (sc in next 2 sts, 4 sc in next sp) 3 times; sc in next 5 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Working in back loop only, sc in next 26 sc, insert hook in next sc, draw a loop through, drop Blue, pick up Lemon and Pink, draw a loop through. Ch 9, turn.
Skip first sc, 2 dtr in next sc, ch 4, skip 2 sc, dtr in next 2 sc, ch 4, skip 4 sc, tr in next 2 sc, ch 4, skip 4 sc, dc in next 2 sc, ch 4, skip 4 sc, sc in next 5 sc; secure thread by passing ball through loop on hook.
Pick up Blue, 20 sc in ch-9 loop, (sc in next 2 sts, 5 sc in next sp) 4 times; sc in next 5 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Working in back loop only, sc in next 38 sc, drop Blue,
Pick up Lemon and Pink, draw loop through first sc, sc in same place, sc in next 4 sc, ch 5, skip 5 sc, dc in next 2 sc, ch 5, skip 5 sc, tr in next 2 sc, (ch 5, skip 5 sc, d tr in next 2 sc) twice; ch 5, skip 2 sc, 2 d tr in next sc, ch 10, skip next sc, sl st in next sc. Break off.
Pick up Blue, 21 sc in ch-10 loop, (sc in next 2 sts, 7 sc in next sp) 5 times; sc in next 5 sc. Break off.
Body
BODY ... With Lemon and Pink, ch 14. Ist row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, half dc in next 2 ch, dc in next 4 ch, half dc in next 2 ch, sc in next 2 ch, sl st in last ch. Break off.
Head
HEAD... With Blue, ch 8. Join with sl st to form ring. Ist rnd: 20 sc in ring, sl st in side of first sc on Body, sc in each st across Body, 3 sc in sl st at other end of Body; working across opposite side, sc in each ch across, sl st in first sc on Head. Break off.
Antennae
ANTENNAE... With Lemon and Pink, ch 25. Break off. Attach Blue to first ch, ch 3, dc in same ch, ch 3, sl st in same ch, sl st in each ch across to center, sl st in center of Head, sl st in each remaining chain across, ch 3, dc in last ch, ch 3, sl st in same ch. Break off.
Assembly
Sew Wings and Body together. Sew Butterflies together, joining center of loops on last row of each wing. Place Butterflies on organdy and trace around inside edges. Cut out material in back of Butterflies, leaving ¼ inch for hem. Sew hem and Butterflies neatly in place.
Edging
EDGING... Attach Shaded Lt. Yellows to right side of Antennae on any Butterfly, sc in same place, * ch 15, sc in end of left side of same Antenna, ch 10, skip 2 sps on wing, in center sc of next sp make tr, ch 10 and tr; ch 10, skip next sp, sc in center sc of next sp, ch 10, skip 5 sc on next sp, tr in next sc, tr in corresponding sc of next wing, ch 10, sc in center sc of next sp, ch 10, skip next sp, in center sc of next so make tr, ch 10 and tr; ch 10, sc in end of next Antenna. Repeat from * around. Join and break off.
Bread And Butter Plate Doily
BREAD AND BUTTER PLATE DOILY ... Make 6 Butterflies. Sew together as before and complete as for Place Doily.
Glass Doily
GLASS DOILY ... Make 4 Butterflies and complete as for Place Doily. Starch lightly and press.
