Crocheted Ripple Afghan Pattern
A ripple afghan worked in interlocking strips of three colors with matching fringe.
Materials
- "Boye" Crochet Hook "I" · Size 7 or 8
Pattern instructions
Pattern Stitch
(One Strip) Ch 8, turn.
1 hdc in 2nd ch from hook, * skip 1 ch, 1 sc in next ch, 1 hdc in same ch, repeat from * once more, skip 1 ch, 1 sc in last ch, ch 2, turn.
1 hdc in first sc, * 1 sc in next sc, 1 hdc in same st, repeat from * once more, 1 sc in turning ch, ch 2, turn.
Same as Row 2.
Same as Row 2, ending ch 4 for extension, turn.
1 hdc in second ch from hook, skip 2 chs, * 1 sc in next sc, 1 hdc in same st, repeat from * once more, 1 sc in next sc (omit last pat), ch 2, turn.
Same as Row 2.
Same as Row 9.
Same as Row 10. Repeat pat from Row 2, working ch 4 for extension every 9th and 14th rows, until there are 11 long and 10 short sections. Break yarn and fasten.
Afghan
Make 8 strips of Color 1 and 7 strips each of Colors 2 and 3.
Join Strips
Sew strips tog on wrong side of work, interlocking the extensions and placing colors as follows: Starting at left side edge, * 1 strip Color 1, 1 strip Color 2, 1 strip Color 3, repeat from * 6 times more, ending 1 strip Color 1 at right side edge.
Fringe
Wind yarn over a 6 inch cardboard, cut strands at one end. Matching color of each strip, fold and knot 2 strands for each fringe. Make 4 fringe about ½ inch apart at end of each strip.
