With Buttercup and size E hook chain (ch) 71 (76), single crochet (sc) in 2nd stitch (st) from hook, 1 sc in each remaining st of ch, ch 1, turn. 2nd Row. 1 sc in 1st sc, 1 double crochet (dc) in same space, * skip 1 sc, 1 sc, 1 dc in next sc, skip 2 sc, 1 sc, 1 dc in next sc, repeat from * across row to within last 2 sts, skip 1 sc, sc in last sc, ch 1, turn. 3rd Row. 1 sc, 1 dc in same space, * skip 1 dc, 1 sc, 1 dc in next sc (pattern), repeat from * across row ending with skip 1 dc, sc in last sc, 28 (30) patterns, ch 1, turn. Armholes and neck

Sew sleeve seams and sew sleeves in position.

FRONT BAND

Place markers for 6 buttonholes on right side. Attach Buttercup at right side at lower edge and using steel crochet hook and working up right front, sc in same space, ch 1, skip ¼ inch space, sc in next space, ** ch 3 for buttonhole, skip ½ inch space, sc in next space, * ch 1, skip ¼ inch space, sc in next space, repeat from * to next buttonhole marker, repeat from ** up front, work a row of sc around neck, then working down left front, * ch 1, skip ¼ inch space, sc in next space, repeat from * down front, ch 1, turn. 2nd Row. Working up left front only, sc in 1st ch 1 space, * ch 1, sc in next ch 1 space, repeat from * up left front, ch 1, turn. 3rd Row. Working down left front work same as last row, cut yarn. Attach yarn at neck edge of right front and repeat the 2nd and 3rd rows of band, cut yarn.

EDGE

Using steel crochet hook and "STAR" RAYON CROCHET attach thread at beginning of band at left side of neck edge, 1 sc, 1 dc in same space, * skip 1 st, 1 sc, 1 dc in next st, repeat from * down left side, across lower edge, up right front and across band only at neck edge, cut thread.

COLLAR

With wrong side of work toward you and size E hook, attach Buttercup at neck edge leaving band free, 1 sc, 1 dc in same space, * skip 1 sc, 1 sc, 1 dc in next sc, repeat from * across neck edge to within last 2 sc, skip 1 sc, sc in last sc, ch 1, turn. Work 3 more rows in pattern. Next Row. Increase 4 patterns evenly spaced. Work 4 rows even in pattern, cut yarn. Finish with edge same as on front of Cardigan working around entire collar.

CUFF

With size E hook, attach Buttercup in center st of 1st row of sleeve, sc in same space, * ch 1, skip 1 sc, sc in next sc, repeat from * around cuff, ch 1, turn. 2nd Row. Sc in 1st ch 1 space, * ch 1, sc in next ch 1 space, repeat from * across row, ch 1, sc in last sc, ch 1, turn. Repeat the last row 5 times, cut yarn. Finish with edge same as on Collar. Finish other sleeve in same manner.

Slipon

RIBBING FOR BACK

With Buttercup and steel crochet hook, ch 13, sc in 2nd st from hook, 1 sc in each remaining st of ch, ch 1, turn. 2nd Row. Working in back loop of sts only for entire ribbing, work 1 sc in each sc, ch 1, turn. Repeat the 2nd row until ribbing measures 11 (12) inches. Sleeves and neck

FRONT

Work same as back until sleeve edge measures 2¼ (2¼) inches at cuff edge. Next Row. Work 12 (13) patterns, ch 1, turn. Work even in pattern until sleeve edge measures 3½ (3¾) inches. Shape shoulder same as back shoulder, cut yarn. Skip 10 patterns at center, attach yarn in next pattern and work to correspond to opposite side. Sew side seams and shoulder seams leaving about 1 inch free at each side of neck edge.

CUFF

Attach Buttercup at shoulder edge and with size E hook, work 21 sc around cuff edge with ch 1 between each sc, ch 1, turn. 2nd Row. Sc in 1st ch 1 space, * ch 1, sc in next ch 1 space, repeat from * all around to last sc, ch 1, sc in last sc, ch 1, turn. Repeat the last row 3 times, cut yarn. With steel hook and "STAR" RAYON CROCHET attach thread in side of cuff, 1 sc, 1 dc in same space, * skip 1 st, 1 sc, 1 dc in next st, repeat from * down side of cuff, across lower edge and up opposite side of cuff, cut thread. Work other cuff in same manner.

Neck and shoulder opening

With size E hook, attach Buttercup at seam of shoulder and working across front shoulder opening sc in same space, * ch 1, skip ⅛ inch space, sc in next st, repeat from * once, ch 3 for buttonhole, skip ½ inch space, sc in corner of shoulder, * ch 1, skip 1 st, sc in next st, repeat from * around entire neck and shoulder opening working 1 buttonhole on opposite shoulder to correspond, join, cut yarn. Using steel hook attach Blue at front neck edge and work edge same as on cuff around front of neck edge only, cut thread. Attach Blue at back of neck and work edge across back of neck, cut thread, do not work across shoulder opening. Sew buttons in position.
