Empire Luncheon Set Pattern #794
Empire luncheon set for four with plate doily, bread and butter doily, and glass doily in mercerized crochet size 10 with linen centers. Originally published in Spool Cotton #67 and #88.

Pattern instructions
Plate Doily
Plate Doily: Ch 120, join with sl st to form ring.
1st rnd: Ch 3 (to count as dc), dc in each of next 3 sts, ch 4, * skip 2 sts, dc in each of next 4 sts, ch 4, repeat from * around, join with sl st to 3rd st of ch-3 on this and all subsequent rnds.
2nd rnd: Ch 3, dc in each dc, ch 5, * dc in each dc, ch 5, repeat from * around.
3rd to 12th rnd incl: Same as 2nd, but make 1 ch more between dc groups in each rnd, so that the 12th rnd has ch 15 between groups.
13th rnd: Ch 3 (to count as dc), thread over for a dc and insert hook in next st, then thread over and draw through 2 loops, thread over and insert hook in next st, thread over, draw through 2 loops, thread over and draw through remaining loops (this is a decrease), dc in last dc of group, ch 17. * Decrease 1 dc in next group, ch 17 and repeat from * around.
14th rnd: Ch 3, decrease 1 dc in each group, ch 19, * dc, decrease 1 dc, ch 19 and repeat from * around.
15th rnd: Ch 3, 1 dc, ch 5, sl st in same dc to form picot, ch 21, * decrease 1 dc, 1 p, ch 21, repeat from * around. Fasten off.
Bread And Butter Doily
Bread and Butter Doily: Ch 96. Work same as for plate doily, starting decreases on the 8th rnd.
8th rnd: Ch 12 between groups.
9th rnd: Ch 14 between groups.
10th rnd: Ch 16 between groups.
Glass Doily
Glass Doily: Ch 60, join with sl st to form ring.
1st rnd: Ch 3, dc in each of next 3 sts, ch 4, * skip 1 st, dc in each of next 4 sts, ch 4, repeat from * around. Join with sl st to 3rd st of ch-3.
Continue as for other doilies, starting decreases on the 4th rnd. (There will be ch 6 between groups.)
4th rnd: Ch 8 between groups.
5th rnd: Ch 10 between groups.
6th rnd: Ch 12 between groups.
Draw circles on linen to fit centers and have the edges hemstitched, or hem with a neat hem. Sew crocheted edge in place.
