Luncheon Set in Filet Pattern #717
Filet luncheon set with place doilies and smaller glass doilies worked from charted filet rows with picot edging groups. Originally published in Spool Cotton #39, The Book of Tatting.

Pattern instructions
Place Doilies
Place Doilies: Begin across short end with ch 153, turn.
1st row: Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in each st of foundation ch (151 dc), ch 3, turn. Turning ch-3 always counts as 1st dc.
2nd row: Dc in each dc of previous row, ch 3, turn.
3rd row: Dc in each of next 6 dc (2 bls made), * ch 2, skip 2 dc, dc in next, repeat from * 3 more times (4 sps in all), dc in each of next 3 dc (1 bl made), 36 sps, 1 bl, 4 sps, 2 bls, ch 3, turn.
4th row: 2 bls, 1 sp, 44 bls, 1 sp, 2 bls, ch 3, turn.
5th row: 2 bls, 1 sp, 1 bl, 2 sps, 1 bl, 36 sps, 1 bl, 2 sps, 1 bl, 1 sp, 2 bls, ch 3, turn.
Continue work, following chart (only Y% of doily is shown). When 33 rows are made, reverse pattern.
Edging: Make 3 groups of edgings on each side of doily as follows: Attach thread to a dc, * ch 8, skip 6 dc, sc in next. Repeat from * once more, ch 1, turn. 13 sc over 1st loop, 7 sc over next loop, ch 8, turn. Sc in center sc of next loop, turn, 14 sc over this loop, 6 sc over next (unfinished) loop. Fasten and break off. Make 3 more doilies.
Glass Doilies
Glass Doilies: Ch 75 and make same as place doilies, working for desired size.
