Centerpiece First Motif
CENTERPIECE—First Motif. Starting at center, ch 8. Join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: Ch 3, 19 dc in ring. Join with sl st to top of ch-3.
Ch 3, 4 dc in same place as sl st, (dc in next 4 dc, 5 dc in next dc) 3 times; dc in next 4 dc. Join with sl st to 3rd st of ch-3.
Sl st in next 2 dc, ch 8, dc in same place as sl st, * ch 2, skip 2 dc, dc in next 4 dc, ch 2, skip 2 dc, in next dc make dc, ch 5 and dc. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 2. Join with sl st to 3rd ch of ch-8.
Sl st in next 3 ch, ch 8, dc in same place as sl st, * ch 2, dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in next 4 dc, ch 2, dc in next dc, ch 2, skip 2 ch, in next ch make dc, ch 5 and dc. Repeat from * around. Join.
Sl st in next 3 ch, ch 8, sc in 3rd ch from hook (picot made), ch 2, dc in same place as sl st, * (ch 2, dc in next dc) twice; ch 3, sc in 3rd ch from hook (picot), ch 3, holding back on hook the last loop of each dc make dc in next 4 dc, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (cluster made); ch 3, sc in 3rd ch from hook, ch 3, dc in next dc, ch 3, picot, ch 2, dc in next dc, ch 2, skip 2 ch, in next ch make dc, ch 5, sc in 3rd ch from hook, ch 2, and dc. Repeat from * around. Join as before. Break off.
Centerpiece Second Motif
SECOND MOTIF. Work as for First Motif until 4th rnd is completed. 5th rnd: Sl st in next 3 ch, ch 5, picot, ch 2, dc in same place as sl st, (ch 2, dc in next dc) twice; ch-3 picot, ch 3, cluster in next 4 dc, ch-3 picot, ch 3, dc in next dc, picot, ch 2, dc in next dc, ch 2, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch, ch 5, sl st in corner loop on First Motif, ch 2, sc in 2nd ch from hook (picot joined), ch 2, dc in same place as last dc on Second Motif, (ch 2, dc in next dc on Second Motif) twice; join next 4 picots to corresponding picots on First Motif as other picot was joined. Complete motif—no more joinings.
Make 7 rows of 7 motifs, joining adjacent sides as Second Motif was joined to First Motif. Where four corners meet, join third and fourth corners to joining of first and second corners.
Place Mat
PLACE MAT (Make 2). Work as for Centerpiece, having 5 rows of 5 motifs.
Bread And Butter Plate Mat
BREAD AND BUTTER PLATE MAT (Make 2). Work as for Centerpiece, having 3 rows of 3 motifs.
Glass Mat
GLASS MAT (Make 2). Work as for Centerpiece, having 2 rows of 2 motifs.
