Center Mat: (11 inches by 27 inches.) Ch 119.

1st row: Dc in 7th ch from hook, * ch 1, skip 1 st, dc in next st. (This makes 1 sp.) Repeat from * along ch, making 52 sps. Ch 4, turn.

2nd row: 7 sps, dc in next sp, dc over dc, dc in sp, dc over dc (this makes a block of 5 dc). * 10 sps, bl of 5 dc, repeat from * 2 more times, ending row with 7 sps. Ch 4, turn.

3rd row: Same as 2nd.

4th row: 5 sps, * bl, ch 17, skip 3 dc, dc in last dc of bl below, then make 4 dc to complete this 5-dc bl, 6 sps, repeat from * 3 more times, ending row with 5 sps. Ch 4, turn.

5th row: 5 sps, * 4 dc, sl st in 2nd st of ch, sc in next, dc in each of next 4 sts, sc in next, 1 sl st, sc, 4 dc, sc, sl st. Dc in each of next 4 dc, 6 sps. Repeat from * 3 more times, ending with 5 sps. Ch 4, turn.

6th row: 3 sps, * bl, ch 17, skip to next group of sps, make bl putting 1st dc in last dc of bl below, 2 sps, repeat from * 3 more times, ending with 3 sps. Ch 4, turn.

7th row: Same as 5th row, except make 3 sps at beginning and 2 sps between motifs, ending row with 3 sps. Ch 4, turn.

8th row: 1 sp, bl, * ch 27, skip motif and make bl over next 2 sps, repeat from * 3 more times, ending row with 1 sp. Ch 4, turn.

9th row: 1 sp, * dc over each of next 4 dc, sl st in 2nd st of ch, sl st along next 5 sts of ch, sc in next, 4 dc, sc, sl st, sc, 4 dc, sc, sl st over next 6 sts, repeat from * 3 more times, ending with 1 sp. Ch 4, turn.

10th row: 3 sps, * bl (1 dc in each of 5 sts), ch 27, bl on opposite side of motif to correspond with bl just made, 2 sps, repeat from * 3 more times, ending with 3 sps. Ch 4, turn.

11th row: 3 sps, * dc over each of next 4 dc, sl st in 2nd st of ch, sl st along next 5 sts of ch, sc in next, 4 dc, sc, join all petals together with a long sc. Sc in next ch, 4 dc, sc, sl st along next 6 sts, dc over each of next 4 dc, 2 sps, repeat from * 3 more times, ending row with 3 sps. Ch 4, turn.

12th row: 5 sps, * bl over ch, ch 7, bl over ch, 6 sps, repeat from * 3 more times, ending with 5 sps. Ch 4, turn.

13th row: 5 sps, * 4 dc, sl st in 2nd st of ch, and sl st along next 4 sts, 4 dc, 6 sps, repeat from * 3 more times, ending with 5 sps. Ch 4, turn.

14th row: 7 sps, * bl over ch, 10 sps, repeat from * 3 more times, ending with 7 sps, ch 4, turn.

15th row: Same as 14th row. This begins the next flower. Continue making 1 flower along each edge and sps in center until there are 8 flowers along each edge. Then make 4 across the end, as for the beginning, and finish with a row of sps.

Edging: Attach thread at a corner sp, ch 3, dc into same sp, * 2 dc over next sp, and repeat from * around entire mat, making 2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc, in each corner sp. Join with sl st to 3rd st of ch-3.

2nd row: Sl st across each of next 3 dc, sc between next 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc in same sp, * 1 picot (Ch 3, sc in st from which ch-3 started) 3 dc in same sp. Skip next 4 dc and sc between next 2-dc. Skip next 4 dc, make 3 dc between next 2-d c. Repeat from * around. At corners make 3 dc, p, 3 dc, p, 3 dc, so that work lies flat.

Place Mats: (4) 13 inches by 16 inches. Ch 157, make 76 sps. Work 7 flowers across, with 4 flowers at sides. Make edging same as before.

Glass Mats: (4) Ch 39. Make 16 sps. Work 2 flowers and finish with edging as before.
