Pattern instructions
Place Doily
Starting at one short end, make a chain about 15 inches long (12 ch sts to 1 inch).
Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, * ch 4, skip 4 ch, sc in next 2 ch. Repeat from * across until there are 28 sps, ending with 2 sc. Cut off remaining chain. Ch 4, turn.
Skip 1st sc, tr in next sc, * ch 4, tr in next 2 sc. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn.
Sc in first 2 tr, * ch 4, sc in next 2 tr. Repeat from * across. Ch 4, turn.
Repeat the 2nd and 3rd rows alternately until piece measures 12 inches, ending with the 3rd row. Ch 5, turn.
Skip 1st sc, in next sc make 2 dc, ch 2 and 2 dc (shell made); skip 4 ch and 1 sc, shell in next sc, skip 4 ch and 1 sc, in next sc make 2 dc, ch 5 and 2 dc; (skip 4 ch and 1 sc, shell in next sc) twice. Ch 5, turn.
In sp of next shell make a shell (shell made over shell), ch 2, sc in sp of next shell, ch 2, 10 tr in ch-5 sp of next shell, ch 2, sc in sp of next shell, ch 2, shell over next shell. Ch 5, turn.
Shell over shell, ch 2, (tr in next tr, ch 1) 9 times; tr in next tr, ch 2, shell over shell. Ch 5, turn.
Shell over shell, ch 4, sc in next ch-1 sp, (ch 3, sc in next sp) 8 times; ch 4, shell over shell. Ch 5, turn.
Shell over shell, ch 4, sc in next ch-3 loop, (ch 3, sc in next loop) 7 times; ch 4, shell over shell. Ch 5, turn.
Work in this manner, having 1 less ch-3 loop on each row until 1 loop remains. Ch 5, turn.
Shell over shell, ch 4, sc in ch-3 loop, ch 4, 2 dc in sp of next shell, ch 1, sl st in sp of last shell, ch 1, 2 dc in same place as last 2 dc, ch 5, turn, sl st in joining of shells. Break off.
Skip 4 ch, 2 sc, 4 ch and 1 sc; attach thread to next sc, ch 5, shell in same sc, skip 4 ch and 1 sc, shell in next sc, skip 4 ch and 1 sc, in next sc make 2 dc, ch 5 and 2 dc; (skip 4 ch and 1 sc, shell in next sc) twice. Ch 5, turn. Complete pineapple as before. Work 3 more pineapples across this edge. Sew the 3rd loop of each adjacent pineapple neatly together. Work across opposite side to correspond.
Center Doily
Work exactly as for Place Doily.
