Pattern instructions
Place Mat
With "Eversheen," ch 147 to measure 14 inches.
Sc in 16th ch from hook, * (ch 5, sc in 3rd ch from hook) 3 times; ch 2 (a p loop made). Skip 4 ch, sc in next ch. Repeat from * 25 more times; ch 7, trtr in last ch. Ch 1, turn.
Sc in top st of ch-7, ch 2, sc in center p of next p loop, * ch 4, sc in center p of next p loop. Repeat from * 25 more times; 2 sc in top st of turning chain. Ch 14, turn.
Sc in 1st sc, sl st in 2 ch, sc in next sc, * make a p loop, sc in next sc. Repeat from * 24 more times; sl st in 2 ch, ch 7, trtr in last sc. Ch 1, turn.
Sc in top st of ch-7, * ch 4, sc in center p of next p loop. Repeat from * 25 more times; ch 4, sc in top st of turning chain. Ch 14, turn.
Sc in 1st sc, * make a p loop, sc in next sc. Repeat from * 25 more times; ch 7, trtr in same place as last sc. Ch 1, turn.
Repeat 2nd to 5th rows incl 4 more times; then repeat 2nd row once more. Break off.
Edging
Attach thread in one corner, work * 3 sc in corner, sc in each st to next corner. Repeat from * 2 more times; sc in each remaining st. Sl st in 1st sc.
Sc in each sc and 3 sc in each corner. Join.
Sl st to corner sc, ** make a p loop, sc in same corner sc, * make a p loop, skip 4 sc, sc in next sc. Repeat from * to next corner. Repeat from ** around. Break off.
Attach thread in center p of corner p loop, ** ch 7, sc in center p of next loop, * ch 4, sc in center p of next loop. Repeat from * to last p loop on this side, ch 7, sc in center p of corner p loop. Repeat from ** around. Join.
Make a p loop, ** in corner sc make sc, p loop and sc, * make a p loop, sc in next sc. Repeat from * across to next corner. Repeat from ** around. Join and break off.
Runner And Dots
Ch 87 to measure 8 inches. Work in pattern same as Place Mat (having 14 p loops on 1st row) until 50 rows in all are made. Break off. Work edging same as on Place Mat.
Starting at center with Perle Cotton, ch 6. Join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: Ch 3, 19 dc in ring, sl st in 3rd st of starting chain. 2nd rnd: Ch 1, sc in same place as sl st, sc in next 2 sc, * 2 sc in next sc, sc in 3 sc. Repeat from * around. Join and break off. Make 13 Polka Dots for each Place Mat and 17 for the Runner. Starch pieces, pin out to measurements and press until dry. Sew Polka Dots on each piece at equal intervals.
