Sl st in next sp, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, * dc in next dc, 3 dc in next sp, dc in next dc, ch 1, 3 dc in next sp. Repeat from * around, ending with dc in 3rd st of ch-3, ch 1, join (6 groups of 8 dc made). Hereafter pick up only the back loop of each dc.

Ch 3, dc in next 7 dc, * ch 3, 6 dc in ch-1, drop loop from hook, insert hook in ch preceding 6-dc group, draw dropped loop through (pc st made); ch 2, dc in next 8 dc. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 2, join.

Sl st in next dc, ch 3, dc in next 5 dc, * ch 3, pc st in next ch, ch 3, pc st in ch preceding next 8-dc group, ch 2, skip 1 dc, dc in next 6 dc. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 2, join.

Sl st in next dc, ch 3, dc in next 3 dc, * ch 4, pc st in next ch, ch 4, skip 1 ch, pc st in next ch between next 2 pc sts, ch 4, pc st in ch preceding 6-dc group, ch 3, skip 1 dc, dc in next 4 dc. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 3, join.

Sl st in next dc, ch 3, dc in next dc; * ch 4, skip 1 ch, pc st in next ch; (ch 5, pc st in 2nd ch following next pc st) 3 times; ch 3, skip 1 dc, dc in next 2 dc. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 3, join.

Ch 3, 5 dc in next dc, drop loop from hook, insert hook in top of ch-3 and draw loop through; * ch 4, skip 1 ch, pc st in next ch; (ch 5, skip 2 ch, pc st in next ch) 3 times; ch 5, skip 1 ch, pc st in next ch, ch 4, pc st in 2nd dc of 2-dc group. Repeat from * around, joining last ch-4 to top of 1st pc st.

Ch 3, * 2 dc in sp, dc over pc st (in back loop). Then (3 dc in next sp, dc over pc st) 4 times; 2 dc in next sp; in back of next pc st make dc, ch 2 and dc. Repeat from * around, ending with dc at base of ch-3, ch 2; join.

Ch 3, * dc in each dc to ch-2 (pick up only back loops); in ch-2 sp make dc, ch 2 and dc. Repeat from * around. Join and fasten off. This completes one motif.

Make necessary number of motifs and sew together on wrong side (see diagram), with neat over-and-over stitches. For a single size spread, disregard motifs to left of heavy line. Block to measurements given.
