Pattern instructions

Basic Dress Back

Foundation

BASIC DRESS for all dolls. BACK: Ch 8 to measure about 3 inches, 1 dc in 4th st from hook, 1 dc in each st of ch, ch 3 to turn all rows (ch 3 at beg of row counts as 1 dc).

2nd ROW

2nd ROW: 1 dc in each st.

3rd ROW

3rd ROW: 1 dc in each st.

4th ROW

4th ROW: Ch 2 more, skip 4 dc, sc in last st.

5th ROW

5th ROW: 1 dc in each st of ch 5.

6th ROW

6th ROW: 1 dc in each st.

7th ROW

7th ROW: 1 dc in each st.

8th ROW

8th ROW: SKIRT: 2 dc in same space, 3 dc in each st, 3 dc in end ch (18 dc counting ch 3).

9th ROW

9th ROW: Working in back loop of sts only, 1 dc in each st.

10th ROW

10th ROW: Working in front loop of sts only, 1 dc in each st. These 2 rows form ridge pattern.

Repeat ridge pattern

Repeat last 2 rows twice, cut yarn.

Basic Dress Front

FRONT

FRONT: With wrong side facing attach yarn in 1st dc and work skirt to correspond.

Basic Dress Finishing

FINISHING

FINISHING: Place dress section over doll and sew seams to within underarm. Place doll through tube of toilet tissue.

Indian

Materials

INDIAN: 1 skein Rust or Lt. Brown. Additional Materials: 24 Wooden Beads, Small Feather.

HEAD BAND

HEAD BAND: Ch 12 to measure about 4 inches, cut yarn. Tie ends and trim with beads and feather. Sew in position to hair.

FRINGE

FRINGE: Cut yarn into 3 inch lengths. Fold strand in half and work fringe all around neck and 1st ridge of dress. Sew remainder of beads to front of bodice.

Eskimo

Materials

ESKIMO: 1 skein White. Additional Material: 1 spool "STAR" MERCERIZED SEWING THREAD in matching color.

SLEEVES

SLEEVES: With right side facing attach yarn in 2nd row from waistline, ch 3, dc in center of dc, dc on top of same dc, dc in joining of neck, dc on top of next dc, dc at end of row (6 dc counting ch 3 as 1 dc), ch 3, turn.

NEXT ROW

NEXT ROW: Working in ridge pattern 1 dc in each dc, cut yarn. Work other sleeve in Same manner.

FINISHING

FINISHING: Same as basic dress.

FUR TRIM

FUR TRIM: Cut a cardboard 1½ x 8 inches. Wind yarn around width side of cardboard from end to end twice. Leave strands on cardboard. With "STAR" MERCERIZED SEWING THREAD in matching color sew each strand through center. Turn cardboard and sew each strand through center on other side. Cut along length edge on each side to form fringe strip. Sew fringe at center to 5th pattern stripe from lower edge of skirt.

HAT

HAT: Ch 13 to measure 4 inches, 1 dc in 4th st from hook and in each remaining st of ch, ch 3, turn. Working in ridge pattern 1 dc in each st, cut yarn. Sew seam at back of hat. Trim as illustrated with fringe strip same as skirt. Sew a three inch length of yarn at each side for ties.

Bunny

Materials

BUNNY: 1 skein White. Additional Materials: Pink Felt, 2 yds.—½ inch Pink Ribbon.

HAT

HAT: Work same as Eskimo.

EARS

EARS: Ch 4, work 2 dc in 1st st of ch, ch 3, turn.

2nd ROW

2nd ROW: 1 dc in same space, dc in next dc, 2 dc in last dc, ch 3, turn.

3rd ROW

3rd ROW: 1 dc in each st, cut yarn. Cut Pink felt in shape of ear section. Sew in place and attach to hat as illustrated.

TAIL POMPON

TAIL POMPON: Wind yarn 20 times over 2½ inch cardboard, slip off cardboard, tie in center and cut both ends. Trim into shape.

FEET POMPONS

FEET POMPONS: Wind yarn 15 times over a 1½ inch cardboard. Finish same as tail. Tie ribbon as illustrated around waistline.

Colonial Lady

Materials

COLONIAL LADY: 1 skein Pink or color of your choice. Additional Material: 3 yds. ½ inch Pink Ribbon.

HAT

HAT: Ch 4, 7 dc in 1st st from hook, ch 3, turn.

2nd ROW

2nd ROW: Work 2 dc in each dc, cut yarn. Seam 1st row. Finish with ribbon and attach to hair of doll. Trim dress and hat with ribbon as illustrated.
