Toy Duck Pattern
Stuffed crochet toy duck with double loop-stitch body, head, front neck section, beak, left and right wings, hat, and yarn eyes. Worked with 3 strands of Aunt Lydia's Heavy Rug Yarn.

Materials
Materials Required: AMERICAN THREAD "AUNT LYDIA'S" HEAVY RUG YARN 28—70 yd. skeins Yellow, 1—70 yd. skein each National Blue and Bongo, 5 yds. Black. Plastic Crochet Hook Size Q. Cotton, Nylon stockings, Foam Rubber or any suitable material for filling. NOTE: Work with 3 strands of yarn throughout.
Body
BODY: With Yellow starting at tail, ch 2, 2 sc in 2nd st from hook, ch 1 to turn all rows.
2nd ROW: 1 double loop st in each st (double loop st: insert hook in st, winding yarn clockwise, wind yarn twice around index finger, insert hook from left to right through loops on finger, pick up both loops and pull through st, drop loop from finger, yo and pull through all loops on hook).
3rd ROW: 2 sc in each st.
4th ROW: 1 double loop st in each st.
5th ROW: 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in each of next 2 sts, 2 sc in last st.
6th ROW: 1 double loop st in each st.
7th ROW: 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in each st to within last st, 2 sc in last st.
8th ROW: Repeat 7th row. Repeat last row 5 times—20 sc.
14th ROW: 1 sc in each sc. Repeat last row 3 times.
18th ROW: Repeat 7th row—22 sc.
19th ROW: 1 sc in each sc.
20th ROW: Repeat 7th row.
21st ROW: 1 sc in each sc.
22nd and 23rd ROWS: Repeat 7th row—28 sc. Work 4 rows even.
28th ROW: Repeat 7th row—30 sc. Work 4 rows even.
33rd ROW: Dec 1 sc at beg and end of row (to dec: insert hook in st, pull loop through, insert hook in next st, pull through, yo and work off all loops at one time).
NEXT 2 ROWS: Work even.
36th ROW: Dec 1 st at beg and end of row. Repeat last row 7 times—12 sc, do not turn. Work a row of sc all around section working 1 sc in each row and 1 sc in each st, cut yarn. Work another section in same manner.
Head
HEAD: Ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd st from hook. Place a marker at beg of each round, do not join.
2nd ROUND: 2 sc in each sc.
3rd ROUND: 1 sc in each sc.
4th ROUND: Working in sc inc 4 sts evenly spaced.
5th ROUND: 1 sc in each sc—16 sc.
6th ROUND: Inc 6 sts evenly spaced.
7th ROUND: 1 sc in each sc.
8th ROUND: Inc 6 sts evenly spaced.
9th ROUND: 1 sc in each sc—28 sc, join, ch 1, turn.
10th ROW: 1 sc in each of next 14 sc, ch 1 to turn all rows.

Front Neck Section
FRONT NECK SECTION: Attach Yellow at end of last round of head, 1 sc in same space, 1 sc in each of next 13 sc, ch 1 to turn all rows.
2nd ROW: 1 sc in each sc—14 sc.
3rd ROW: 1 sc in each of next 4 sc, ch 6 for Mouth opening, skip next 6 sc, 1 sc in each of next 4 sc.
4th ROW: 1 sc in each sc, 1 sc in each st of ch, 1 sc in each of next 4 sc.
5th ROW: 1 sc in each sc.
6th ROW: Dec 1 st at beg and end of row.
7th ROW: 1 sc in each sc.
8th and 9th ROWS: Dec 1 st at beg and end of row.
10th and 11th ROWS: 1 sc in each sc—8 sc.
12th ROW: Dec 1 st at beg and end of row.
13th ROW: 1 sc in each sc.
14th ROW: Inc 2 sts evenly spaced.

Beak
BEAK: Wind Bongo into 3 balls. With right side of work facing, attach Bongo at right side of mouth opening, 1 sc in same space, 1 sc in each of next 6 sts, 1 sc on side of opening, 1 sc in each sc—14 sc, join, ch 1, turn.
2nd ROW: 1 sc in each of next 7 sc, ch 1 to turn all rows.
3rd ROW: 1 sc in each sc.
4th ROW: Dec 1 st at beg and end of row.
5th ROW: 1 sc in each sc.
6th ROW: Dec 1 st at beg and end of row, cut yarn. Attach Bongo at right side of under section of Beak and work 1 sc in each of next 7 sc, ch 1 to turn all rows. Repeat 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th rows of Beak once.
NEXT ROW: * 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 4 rows on side of Beak, 1 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of next 4 rows on upper side of Beak, repeat from * once, join, cut yarn.
Left Wing
LEFT WING: With Yellow, ch 2, 2 sc in 2nd st from hook, ch 1 to turn all rows.

Hat
HAT: Wind National Blue into 3 balls. Work 1st 7 rounds in same manner as Head. NEXT ROUND: Work sl st around hat, cut yarn.
Eyes
EYES: (Make 2). Wind Black 30 times over 1 inch cardboard. Slip off, tie in center, and cut both ends. Trim and sew in position as illustrated.
Assembly
ASSEMBLING: Sew sides of neck section. Fill head and neck. Sew the two body sections tog leaving an opening for filling. Fill and sew opening closed. Sew head and wings to body as illustrated. Sew hat in position.
