Tumbler Muff Pattern #943
Vintage navy and white tumbler muffs worked in group stitch, originally published in Spool Cotton #94, Gifts to Crochet & Knit. Materials make a set of 6.

Pattern instructions
Base
Starting at center, with Navy Blue ch 4, join with sl st to form ring.
7 sc in ring.
Sc in each sc around, increasing when necessary to keep work flat, until piece measures 2 inches in diameter. Do not break off.
Sides
Work 4 rnds of sc in sc. Then work as follows:
Ch 2, thread over hook, insert hook in 2nd sc, * draw loop through, thread over, insert hook in same place. Repeat from * until there are 7 loops on hook; then, thread over and draw through all loops. (Thus a group-st is made.) ** Ch 1, skip 1 sc, make group-st in next sc. Repeat from ** around, joining last ch-1 with sl st to 2nd st of ch-2 first made. Drop Navy Blue.
Attach White to 1st sc of sc-rnd (under ch-2 of 1st rnd), ch 2, make a group-st in next sc of sc-rnd, working over ch-2. * Ch 1, group-st in next sc of sc-rnd (under next ch-1). Repeat from * around. Ch 1, join with sl st to 2nd st of ch-2 first made. Drop White.
Pick up Navy Blue, ch 2, and work a group-st in tip of each Navy Blue group-st with ch-1 between each group-st. Join, drop Navy Blue.
Pick up White, ch 2, and work a group-st in tip of each White group-st, with ch-1 between each group-st. Join. Repeat these last 2 rnds until 8 rnds of White group-sts are made. Then make 2 more rnds of Navy Blue group-sts. Break off.
