Vintage charted bedspread strip in J. & P. Coats Knit-Cro-Sheen with blocks, spaces, bars, and lacets; sew strips together for single or double size spread.

Size
Single size spread about 67½ x 107 inches (5 strips). Double size spread about 94½ x 107 inches (7 strips). Each strip measures 13½ inches wide.
Gauge
4 bls or sps make 1 inch; 4 rows make 1 inch.

STRIP ... Starting at the bottom, ch 166 (to measure about 15 inches).

Ist row

Ist row: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in next 5 ch, (ch 3, skip 2 ch, sc in next ch, ch 3, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch) twice; (ch 2, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch) 3 times; dc in next 6 ch, ch 2, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch (sp made), dc in next 6 ch. Make 15 sps, dc in next 3 ch (bl made), make 10 sps, dc in next 6 ch, 1 sp, dc in next 6 ch, 3 sps, ch 3, skip 2 ch, sc in next ch, ch 3, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch (lacet made). Make 1 more lacet, dc in next 6 ch. Ch 5, turn.

2nd row

2nd row: Skip 2 dc, dc in next dc, ch 2, skip 2 dc, dc in next dc (2 sps made over 2 bls), ch 5, dc in next dc (bar made over lacet). Make 11 more bar, ch 2, dc in next dc (Sp made over sp), make 2 more sps, dc in next 3 dc (bl made over bl). Make 1 sp, 2 dc in next sp, dc in next dc (bl made over sp). Make 13 sps, 1 bl, 16 sps, 1 bl, 1 sp, 1 bl, 3 sps, 2 bars, 2 sps. Ch 3, turn.

3rd row

3rd row: 2 bls, ch 3, skip 2 ch, sc in next ch, ch 3, dc in next dc (lacet made over bar). Make 3 sps, 2 bls, 1 sp, 4 bls, 13 sps, 1 bl, 12 sps, 4 bls, 1 sp, 2 bls, 3 sps, 1 lacet, 1 bl, then make 2 dc in next sp, dc in 3rd st of turning ch. Ch 5, turn.

4th row and chart

Starting with 4th row, follow chart to top. Repeat the Ist to 88th rows incl of chart 3 more times; then work the Ist to 78th rows once more. Fasten off.

Block and join strips

Block strip to measure 13½ x 107 inches. Make the necessary number of strips and sew them together with neat over-and-over stitches on wrong side.
