Pattern instructions

Dark Color Square

Starting

Starting about 4 inches from end of yarn, ch 10.

Row 1

Work 1 sc in 3rd ch from hook, then 1 sc in each ch across (8 sts), ch 1, turn.

Row 2

1 sc in each st, ch 1, turn. Repeat Row 2 seven times more, break yarn and fasten, leaving about 4 inches for sewing.

Light Color Flower

Starting

Ch 4, join in ring with a sl st.

Row 1

Work 8 sc in ring.

Row 2

Working around, * work 1 sc in next sc, ch 6 loosely, 1 sc in same st, 1 sc in next st, ch 3 loosely, 1 sc in same st, repeat from * around, break yarn and fasten. Make 305 squares and 305 flowers.

Join

Join

Sew squares to flowers, joining corners of squares first, then drawing the long loop of flowers tog. Place 11 flowers and 10 squares on first row, for width of Afghan and 10 flowers and 11 squares on second row, alternating direction of squares on each row. Repeat these 2 rows until there are 29 rows in all.

Border

1st Row

Starting in corner of one Dark Color square, on right side of Afghan, work 1 row of sc around afghan, working 8 sc in each square, 7 chs across flowers and increasing at each corner of Afghan to keep border flat.

Next Row

Next row work around in same manner, working 1 sc in each ch over flowers. Work 2 more rows around, break yarn and fasten.
