Pennsylvania Modern Bedspread Pattern

BLOCK... Starting at center with Nile Green, ch 5. Join with sl st to form ring.

Ist rnd: Ch 3, 19 dc in ring. Join to top of ch-3.

2nd rnd: Ch 5, picking up back loop only, * dc in next dc, ch 2. Repeat from * around. Join and break off (20 sps).

3rd rnd: Attach Canary Yellow to any sp, ch 3, 5 dc in same sp, drop loop from hook, insert hook in first dc of 5-dc group and draw dropped loop through (pc st made), * ch 2, pc st in next sp. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 2. Join to top of ch-3. Break off.

4th rnd: Attach Green to any ch-2 sp, ch 4, 2 tr in same sp, * 3 dc in next sp, make half dc and 2 sc in next sp, make 2 sc and half dc in next sp, 3 dc in next sp, in next sp make 3 tr, ch 3 and 3 tr (corner). Repeat from * around, ending with 3 tr in same sp as thread was attached, ch 3. Join to top of ch-4.

5th rnd: Ch 3, picking up back loop only, dc in next 5 sts, * ch 3, skip next 3 sts, sc in next st, ch 3, skip next 2 sts, dc in next 6 sts, in corner sp make 3 dc, ch 3 and 3 dc; dc in next 6 sts. Repeat from * around. Join.

6th rnd: Ch 3, picking up back loop only of each dc, make dc in next 2 dc, * (ch 5, sc in next loop) twice; ch 5, skip next 3 dc, dc in next 6 dc, in corner sp make 3 dc, ch 3 and 3 dc; dc in next 6 dc. Repeat from * around. Join and break off.

7th rnd: Attach Yellow to any corner sp, 5 sc in same sp, sc in each dc and 5 sc in each sp around. Join and break off.

For Single Size Spread, make 20 rows of 31 blocks. For Double Size Spread, make 26 rows of 31 blocks. Sew blocks neatly together. Block to measurements.

FRINGE... Cut 18 strands of Yellow, each 8 inches long, fold strands in half and draw loop through corner sp on any corner motif. Draw loose ends through loop and pull up tightly, thus making a fringe. Make a fringe in each sp across two long sides and one short side. Trim ends evenly.
