Star Stitch Afghan

With any color other than Dk. Green ch 20, yarn over hook, insert in 4th st from hook and pull loop through, yarn over hook, skip 1 st of ch, insert in next st, pull loop through, yarn over and work off all loops at one time, ch 1 (the ch 1 is termed the eye of st), * yarn over hook, insert in same space with last st, pull loop through, yarn over hook, skip 1 st of ch, insert in next st, pull loop through, yarn over and work off all 5 loops at one time, ch 1 (pattern), repeat from * across row, cut yarn (8 patterns). Attach another color yarn in eye of last pattern made, ch 2, turn.

Yarn over hook, insert in eye of last st made, pull loop through, yarn over hook, insert in eye of next st of previous row, pull loop through, yarn over and work off all 5 loops at one time, ch 1, * yarn over hook, insert in eye of same st of previous row, pull loop through, yarn over hook, insert in eye of next st of previous row, pull loop through, yarn over and work off all 5 loops at one time, ch 1, repeat from * across row inserting hook in 3rd st of end ch and complete st, cut yarn. Attach another color in eye of last pattern made, ch 2, turn.

Same as 2nd row, using a different color for each row.

Attach Dk. Green in center of corner, ch 1, 3 sc in same space, work 14 sc across top edge, * 3 sc in corner, 14 sc across next side, repeat from * twice, join in 1st sc.

Working in back loop of sts, ch 1, 3 sc in center st at corner, 1 sc in each of next 16 sc, * 3 sc in center st of corner, 1 sc in each of next 16 sc, repeat from * twice, join in 1st sc, cut yarn.

Sew motifs together as illustrated having stripes of one motif going horizontally and stripes of next motif going vertically.

Using all colors, cut strands 6 inches long. Using 3 strands, double in half and loop through every other sc, draw ends through the loop tightly, repeat all around.
