Head Rest
Starting at bottom, with Ecru ch 365 (to measure about 21 inches).
Dc in 8th ch from hook, * ch 2, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch (1 sp made). Repeat from * across (120 sps). Ch 3, turn.
* 2 dc in sp, dc in dc. Repeat from * across, ending row with dc in turning ch. Ch 5, turn.
* Skip 2 dc, dc in next dc, ch 2. Repeat from * across. Ch 5, turn.
Dc in dc, * ch 2, dc in next dc. Repeat from * across. Ch 5, turn.
Repeat the last row until piece measures 9½ inches. Then dec. 1 sp at both ends of each row 9 times (to dec. at beginning of row, ch 3 to turn, skip 1 sp, dc in next dc. To dec. at end of row, omit last ch-2 and work the last 2 dc as 1 dc). Work a row of sc closely together around outer edges, omitting lower edge.
Fringe
Cut 5 strands of Ecru, each 10 inches long. Double these strands, forming a loop. Pull loop through sp on head rest and draw loose ends of fringe through this loop. Pull tight. Make a fringe in every other sp across lower edge. Then take 5 strands of 1st fringe and 5 strands of 2nd fringe, and knot these 10 strands together ¾ inch down from lower edge. Continue in this manner across. Trim ends evenly.
Applique Bar
With Sport Green make a chain tightly to measure about 23 inches.
Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.
Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat the last row until piece measures same width as one row of spaces. Break off.
Sew this bar across 33 sps of 15th row up from lower edge, then down 6 rows of sps, across 54 sps of 9th row, up next 6 rows and across remaining 33 sps of 15th row (see illustration).
Large Flower Pot
With Autumn Glow, ch 29 (to measure about 2 inches).
Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.
Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd row, increasing 1 st at both ends of every 3rd row until row measures 3 inches across. Work straight until piece measures 1½ inches. Break off. Sew this pot to center of lower bar.
Small Flower Pots
Starting at bottom, ch 22 (to measure about 1½ inches). Work as for large flower pot until row measures 2¼ inches. Work straight until piece measures 1¼ inches. Break off. Make another same as this, and sew one on each top bar (see illustration).
Stems
With Sport Green make a chain tightly to measure about 4½ inches. Work sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across. Ch 1, turn, and work another row of sc in each sc across. Break off. Place this stem in position over large flower pot and sew in place. Make another stem 3½ inches long, and sew in place at one side of previous stem (see illustration). Make 2 more stems, 2¾ inches long, and sew in place at center of each small flower pot.
Flowers
With Orange, ch 5, turn.
Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.
2 sc in 1st sc, sc in each sc across, 2 sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd row until row measures 1¼ inches across. Work straight until piece measures 1¼ inches. On next row, work across 1st 5 sc, then dec. 1 sc (to dec. work off 2 sc as 1 sc). Ch 1, turn. Hereafter continue as before, decreasing 1 sc at inner edge each row (keeping outer edge straight) until all sts are worked off. Break off.
Attach thread at inner edge and work across next 7 sc. Work as before, decreasing 1 sc at both ends of each row until all sts are worked off. Break off. Attach thread to next sc at inner edge and work as for 1st section until all sts are worked off. Sew this flower to the longer stem. Make 3 more flowers in same way, but increasing until row measures 1 inch. Work straight until piece measures ¾ inch. Then divide the sc into 3 sections and work as for large flower. Sew one of each of these 3 flowers to remaining stems.
Leaves
Starting at center, with Sport Green, make a chain tightly, to measure about 2¾ inches.
Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.
Dec. 2 sc, then sc in each sc across, decreasing the last 2 sc. Repeat 2nd row until 14 sc remain. Break off. Attach thread to foundation chain and work opposite side to correspond. Make another leaf same as this and sew to base of stems of large pot, as in illustration. Make 4 more small leaves same as for large leaves, but making a chain to measure about 1¾ inches, and decreasing until 14 sc remain. Sew 2 leaves at base of stem on each small pot (see illustration).
Arm Pieces
Work exactly as for head rest, but starting with ch 131, instead of 365 (42 sps), and making a bar, as before, 7 inches long and a small pot for center.
