Windmill Pattern #203 from Spool Cotton #30, Your Home and Its Decoration. Materials: Clark's O.N.T. Knitting and Crochet Cotton, or J. & P. Coats Crochet Cord, White, Ecru, or Boilfast color. Milward's steel crochet hook No. 5. The design illustrated is worked in a combination of Ecru and color. Approximately 36 large balls are required for a bedspread for a double bed in which case one-fourth of the amount should be in color.

To begin ch 5 and join with sl st to form ring.

1st rnd: Ch 3 (always at beginning of rnd to count as 1 dc), 11 dc in ring, join with sl st to 3rd st of ch-3.

2nd rnd: Ch 3, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, * ch 3, 1 dc in each of next 3 dc, repeat from * completing four 3-dc groups. Join with sl st to 1st ch-3.

3rd rnd: * Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in each of next 2 dc, ch 3, dc in center st of ch-3 of previous rnd, ch 3, and repeat from * around, joining with sl st.

4th rnd: * Ch 3 (counts as dc), 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, 3 dc in sp, dc at corner, ch 3, dc in same st, 3 dc in sp, repeat from *. Join.

5th rnd: Ch 3, 3 dc, * skip 1 st, 1 cluster in next st, (to make cluster, make 4 dc in same st, always holding the last st of each dc on the hook, then thread over, and take off all remaining loops. A tight ch st should be made to fasten the cluster), ch 1, 1 cluster in corner sp, ch 3, 1 cluster in same sp, ch 1, skip 1 dc, 1 cluster in next, skip 1 dc, 1 dc in each of next 5 dc. Repeat from *, completing rnd with dc then sl st to ch-3.

6th rnd: Ch 3, dc in each of next 3 dc, * dc in sp before cluster, ch 1, cluster in next sp, ch 1, cluster in corner sp, ch 3, cluster in same sp, ch 1, cluster in next sp, ch 1, dc in sp after cluster, dc in each of next 5 dc, repeat from * ending with 2 dc, sl st to ch-3.

7th, 8th and 9th rnds: Continue pattern in same manner, increasing 1 dc on each side of center sections.

10th and 11th rnds: On these rnds, ch 2 before and after the clusters, and ch 4 at corners.

12th, 13th, 14th and 15th rnds: Ch 3 before and after clusters and ch 5 at corners.

16th rnd: Ch 3, dc in each dc, 3 dc in ch-3 sp, dc in 1st ch of cluster, dc in next st of cluster, 3 dc in next sp, 2 dc in cluster, 4 dc in corner sp, ch 4, 4 dc in same sp, and continue around making a solid rnd of dc. Join with sl st.

17th rnd: Ch 3, complete cluster in this dc, ch 2, skip 2 dc, 1 cluster in next ch 2, and continue around. Make 2 clusters with ch-4 between at corners. Join with sl st.

18th rnd: Ch 3, dc in ch of cluster, 2 dc in sp, dc in each ch of cluster, ch 2 in sp, and repeat around making 10 dc in corner sp. When completed, whip blocks together with over and over st.

Finish outer edge of finished spread as follows: Attach thread, * ch 2, skip 2 dc, 1 cluster in next dc, ch 2, skip 2 dc, 1 sc in next, and repeat from * around, making 2 clusters with ch-3 between at corners.

Changing Colors. Unless a solid color is preferred, the following color combinations are suggested for this design: Ecru and 26 Nile Green; 25 Crystal Blue and 68 Skipper Blue; 126 Spanish Red and White; 88 Peach and Ecru. Work the first 4 rnds with one color, then attach the second color, and work through the 13th rnd. Continue the last 3 rnds with the first color, also making the finishing edge with the same color.

Windmill Pattern #203 from Spool Cotton #85, Bedspreads. MATERIALS: Milward's steel crochet hook No. 6 or 7. Choose one of the following threads: J. & P. Coats Knit-Cro-Sheen (approx. 68 balls); Clark's O.N.T. Lustersheen (approx. 51 skeins); Clark's O.N.T. Knitting and Crochet Cotton (approx. 51 balls). This amount is sufficient for a double size spread in White or Ecru. Gauge: Each block measures 7½ inches square and requires about 102 yards of thread. For a double size spread (about 95 x 109 inches), or a single size spread (about 81 x 109 inches), make the necessary amount of blocks and then join them together to correspond with measurement.

Block. To begin, ch 5 and join with sl st to form ring.

16th rnd: Ch 3, dc in ch of cluster, 2 dc in sp, dc in each ch of cluster, 2 dc in sp, and repeat around making 10 dc in corner sp. Join with sl st and break off. Sew blocks together with over and over stitches.

Edging. Attach thread to one corner, ch 3 and make a cluster in same corner st, * ch 2, skip 2 dc, sc in next dc, ch 2, skip 2 dc, 1 cluster in next dc. Repeat from * around, making 1 cluster at each corner.
