Pattern instructions

Bottle Cover

Foundation

Starting at bottom ch 4.

1st rnd

11 dc in 1st ch made. Sl st in top st of ch-4 first made.

2nd rnd

Ch 3, dc in same place as 1st st, 2 dc in each st around. Sl st in 3rd st of ch-3 first made (24 dc counting starting ch as 1 dc).

3rd rnd

Ch 1, sc in each st around, increasing 6 sc in the rnd—to inc an sc make 2 sc in 1 sc. Join with sl st to 1st sc made.

4th rnd

Ch 1, sc in same place as sl st, * dc in next st, sc in next st. Repeat from * around, ending with dc in last st. Sl st in 1st sc made. Turn.

5th rnd

Ch 6, (to count as dc and ch-3), skip next dc, the following sc and the next dc, * dc in next sc, sc in next dc. Repeat from * around, ending with sc in last dc. Sl st in 3rd st of ch-6 first made. Turn.

6th rnd

Ch 1, sc in same place as sl st, * dc in next sc, sc in next dc. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 3, sl st in 1st sc made. Turn.

7th rnd

Same as 5th rnd skipping the ch-3 (instead of the 3 sts described in 5th rnd). Repeat the 6th and 7th rnds alternately until piece measures 5 inches.

Next rnd

Ch 4, (to count as dc and ch), * skip 1 st, dc in next st, ch 1. Repeat from * around. Join last ch-1 with sl st to 3rd st of ch-4 first made. Do not turn.

Last rnd

Sl st in next ch, sc in sp, * in next sp make 2 dc, ch 2 and 2 dc (shell made); sc in next sp. Repeat from * around, making a shell in sp where last sc was made, sl st in 1st sc made. Fasten off. Cut ribbon into three 1/2-yd. lengths (1 to be used for bottle cover and 1 for each mitten). Draw ribbon through ch-1 sps and tie into a bow.

Mittens

Foundation

Starting at tip of Mitten, ch 2.

1st rnd

6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Do not join rnds.

2nd rnd

Sc and dc in each of next 5 sc (5 increases); in next sc made sc, dc and sc— thus making 2 more increases (13 sts in rnd).

3rd rnd

* Dc in next sc, in next dc make sc, dc and sc (2 increases); dc in next sc, sc in next dc. Repeat from * around (19 sts).

4th rnd

Make sc over dc and dc over sc increasing 2 sts at a time as before 3 times, spacing increases evenly apart (25 sts in rnd). Hereafter work without increasing making dc over sc and sc over dc until piece measures 4 inches in all, ending with sl st in next st.

Next rnd

Ch 4 (to count as hdc and ch-2), * skip 1 st, hdc in next st, ch 2, skip 2 sts, hdc in next st, ch 2. Repeat from * around, joining last ch-2 with sl st to 2nd st of ch-4 first made (10 sps).

1st rnd shells

Sl st in next ch, sc in sp, * in next sp make 3 dc, ch 2 and 3 dc (shell made), sc in next sp. Repeat from * around, ending with shell in last sp, sl st in 1st sc made.

2nd rnd shells

Ch 3, in same place as sl st make 2 dc, ch 2 and 3 dc; * sc in ch-2 sp, shell in next sc. Repeat from * around, ending with sl st in 3rd st of ch-3 first made.

3rd rnd shells

Sl st in next 2 dc and in next ch, sc in sp of shell, * in next sc (between shells) make a shell as before, sc in sp of next shell. Repeat from * around, ending with sl st in 1st sc made. Fasten off. Make another mitten same as this. Draw ribbon through sps at wrist and tie into a bow.
