Pattern instructions
Mitten
Starting at the tip of fingers: Chain 4 sts, join with a slip st to form a ring, 10 sc into ring. (Mark the beginning of round with a colored thread as an aid in counting).
* 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next st, repeat from * around once.
Make 1 sc in each st around.
* 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next 2 sts, repeat from * around once.
* 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next 3 sts, repeat from * around once.
* 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next 4 sts, repeat from * around once.
* 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next 5 sts, repeat from * around once.
* 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next 6 sts; repeat from * around once.
* 2 sc in next sts, 1 sc in next 7 sts; repeat from * around once, (45 sts in all). Work 1 sc into each stitch until the piece measures 3-inches in all. Increase 1 st in last row, end row with a slip st.
Ch 5 sts, * skip 2 sts, 1 dc in next st, skip 2 sts; 2 dc in next st; ch 2; 2 dc in next st; ch 2; 2 dc back in same space as first 2 dc, (shell); repeat from * around ending with a shell; join with a slip st in 3rd st of ch at the beginning of row.
Ch 5, * over chain 2 space on row below make 2 dc; ch 2, 2 dc; 1 dc around dc on row below; repeat from * around, ending with a slip st in 3rd st of chain. Repeat row 2 for 2 inches. Make the 2nd mitten the same way.
