Children's crochet mittens for size 5 to 7 years in three variations: No. 620 variegated two-piece mittens, No. 616 solid color with white trim and cord, and No. 621 two-color tan and blue with embroidered flower. No 620 Back Of Hand
RIGHT MITTEN: Back of hand: Using the variegated yarn. Make a chain of 24 sts, loosely. ROW 1: Make 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook; 1 sc in next 22 chain sts; 3 sc in same space as last st; going down 2nd side of foundation chain make 1 sc into each chain. (Should have 23 sc on this side). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 2: 1 sc in next 24 sts; 3 sc in next st, 1 dc in next st; 1 sc in last 24 sts. Ch 3, (this turning chain will count as 1 dc of next row), turn.
ROW 3: 1 dc in next 23 sts; 2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st; 1 dc in next 24 sts, (end of row). Ch 3, turn.
ROW 4: 1 dc in next 24 sts; 2 dc in each of the next 3 sts; 1 dc in each st to end of row, (56 sts in row). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 5: Make 1 sc in next 25 sts; 2 sc in each of the next 6 sts; 1 sc in each st to end of row. Fasten off yarn.
No 620 Palm
PALM: Starting at the outer edge, make a chain of 26 sts. ROW 1: 1 sc in 2nd chain from hook and 1 sc in each of the remaining 24 ch sts, (25 sc in all). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 2: 2 sc in first st; 1 sc in each st to end of row, (26 sts in row). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 3: 1 sc in next 25 sts; 2 sc in last st. Ch 1, turn.
ROW 4: 2 sc in first st, 1 sc in each st to end of row, (28 sts in row). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 5: 1 sc in next 27 sts; 2 sc in last st, (29 sts in row). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 6: Make 1 sc in each st across row. Ch 1, turn.
ROW 7: Repeat row 6.
ROW 8: Make 11 sc in next 16 sts, chain 10 sts (this is for thumb); 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and 1 sc in each of the remaining 8 ch sts; 1 sc in each st (13) to end of row. (this row ends at cuff).
ROW 9: Make 1 sc in next 21 sts; 2 sc in next st, (continuing around thumb), 1 sc in next 9 sts; (on second side of thumb); 1 sc in next 14 sts; draw up a loop in next 2 sts, yarn over and pull through all loops on hook, (this is a decrease). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 10: Make a decrease at beginning of row; 1 sc in each st to end of row, (going around thumb), this row ends at cuff. Ch 1, turn.
ROW 11: 1 sc in each st across row, (going around thumb), to within last 2 sts; make a decrease on last 2 sts. Ch 1, turn.
ROW 12: Make a decrease at beginning of row; 1 sc in each st to end of row, (going around thumb). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 13: 1 sc in next 13 sts; skip the next 18 sts for thumb; 1 sc in last 13 sts. Break yarn. Sew thumb. Pin the 2 pieces together to form a right hand mitten. Tie yarn at cuff, picking up 1 loop from each side, sc pieces together, around sides. Continue to make 1 row of sc around cuff. Break yarn.
No 620 Left Mitten
LEFT MITTEN: Work as the right one, but in putting the two pieces together arrange it to make a left hand mitten.

No. 616 — Children's Crochet Mittens. REQUIREMENTS: YARN: 2-ounces of 4-ply Knitting Worsted (Blue); Small amount of White Knitting Worsted. CROCHET HOOK: #5 Bone. GAUGE: 5 sts to an inch.
MITTEN: Follow directions as for #620; using all one color for mittens.
Finishing: Crochet the two pieces together with white. Make a chain stitch of 18 inches. Run through mitten at wrist. Make a pompom for each end.

No. 621 - Children's Crochet Mittens. REQUIREMENTS: YARN: 1-ounce of tan 4-ply Knitting Worsted; 1-ounce of blue 4-ply Knitting Worsted. CROCHET HOOK: #5 Bone. GAUGE: 5 sts to an inch.
MITTEN: Follow directions as for 620. Using tan for the back of hand and the blue yarn for the palm.
Finishing: Single crochet the two pieces together with blue. Embroider a flower on back of hand with blue.
