Starting at center, ch 2.

8 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sl st in first sc.

Ch 3, dc in same place as sl st, 2 dc in each sc around (8 dc increased). Sl st in top of ch-3.

Sc in each st around, increasing 6 sc evenly around. Join.

Ch 3, dc in each sc around, increasing 12 dc evenly around. Join.

Repeat the 3rd and 4th rnds alternately until piece measures 5 inches in diameter, ending with a dc-rnd. Break off.

Make a chain 13½ inches long.

Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 3, turn.

Skip first sc, dc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.

Sc in each st across. Ch 3, turn.

Repeat the 2nd and 3rd rows alternately until piece measures 4½ inches, ending with an sc row. Turn.

Sl st in each st across. Ch 3, turn.

2 dc in each st across. Ch 1, turn.

Sc in each st across. Ch 3, turn.

Skip first sc, dc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.

* Sc in next 3 sts, ch 3, sc in 3rd ch from hook (picot made). Repeat from * across. Break off.

Pin starting chain of Side to outer edges of Back Piece, leaving a 2½-inch edge free on Back Piece (for back of neck). Working over both thicknesses, join the two pieces with sc. Break off. Make a row of sc closely along neck edge, holding work in to fit. Turn Ruffle back and tack in place at regular intervals. Cut 2 pieces of the wider ribbon, each 18 inches long. Make 2 rosettes of the remaining ribbon. Sew one end of an 18-inch piece of ribbon and a rosette on each side of Cap.

Ch 7.

Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.

Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.

Ch 40 (for ankle) at end of 5th row. Sl st in sc at opposite end of same row where the ch-40 started.

Sc in each sc of Toe Piece, making 3 sc in each of the 2 outer corners, sc in each ch around. Sl st in first sc.

Ch 5, dc in same place as sl st, 2 dc in each sc along Toe Piece, then make 1 dc in each sc around. Join.

Work sc-rnds and dc-rnds alternately as for Cap.

Work off 2 sts as 1 st all along toe end of Bootee, then sc in each dc around. Join.

Sc in each sc around.

Sc in each sc around, decreasing 5 sc at toe and heel ends. Break off. Sew together the 2 halves of the last rnd to complete sole.

Attach yarn to center back on ankle chain and, working along opposite side of starting chain, make sc in each ch across, sc in each sc of toe piece, sc in each remaining chain. Join.

(Beading) Ch 3, dc in next sc, * ch 1, skip 1 sc, dc in next 2 sc. Repeat from * around. Join last ch-1 to top of ch-3.

Sc in same place as sl st, sc in next dc, * sc in next sp, sc in next 2 dc. Repeat from * around.

Make 1 sc-rnd, 1 dc-rnd and another sc-rnd as for Cap.

* Sc in next 3 sts, picot. Repeat from * around. Join and break off. Cut narrow ribbon into four ½-yard lengths. Pass one piece of ribbon through beading and tie into a bow.

Starting at tip, ch 2.

9 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sl st in first sc.

Ch 3, dc in same place as sl st, 2 dc in each sc around (9 dc increased). Join.

Ch 1, sc in same place as sl st, sc in each dc around, increasing 9 sc evenly around — to inc 1 sc, make 2 sc in 1 st. Join.

Ch 3, dc in each sc around. Join.

Ch 1, sc in same place as sl st and in each dc around. Join.

Repeat 4th and 5th rnds alternately until 13 rnds in all are completed (last rnd is an sc rnd).

Ch 3, dc in next sc, * ch 1, skip 1 sc, dc in next 2 sc. Repeat from * around. Join.

Sc in same place as sl st, sc in next dc, * 2 sc in next sp, sc in next 2 dc. Repeat from * around. Join.

Work 1 dc-rnd, 1 sc-rnd and another dc-rnd.

Work as for last rnd of Bootees. Pass a piece of ribbon through beading and tie into a bow.
