With White ch 93, sc in 2nd st from hook, 1 sc in each remaining st of ch, ch 1, turn.

1 sc in each sc, ch 1, turn. Repeat last row until work measures 7 1/4 inches. Without breaking thread work a row of sc all around working 3 sc in each corner st, break thread.

Using a single strand of thread attach Green "STAR" Pearl Cotton in corner st, ch 3, 4 dc in same space, skip 1 sc, sl st in next st, * ch 3, 2 dc in same space, skip the space of a dc, sl st in next sc, repeat from * to 2nd st before corner st, 5 dc in corner st, skip 1 sc, sl st in next st, continue all around in same manner working all corners same as 2nd corner, join, break thread.

With Red using a single strand of thread ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd st from hook. Without joining rows work 4 rows of sc increasing a sufficient number of times to keep work flat, join, break thread. Work 5 more cherries in same manner.

Using a single strand of thread with Green ch 16, sc in 2nd st from hook, 1 sc in each of the next 2 sts of ch, 1 dc in each of the next 4 sts, 1 trc in each of the next 4 sts, 1 dc in each of the next 2 sts, 1 sc in next st, 3 sc in next st, working on opposite side of ch, 1 sc in each of the next 2 sts, 1 dc in each of the next 8 sts, 1 sc in each remaining st, join, break thread. Work 7 more leaves in same manner.

With Brown ch 17, sc in 2nd st from hook, 1 sc in each remaining st of ch, break thread. Work 3 more long stems in same manner.

Ch 9 and work same as long stem. Work 3 more short stems in same manner.

Applique cherries, leaves and stems as illustrated.

With White ch 79 and work in same manner as large mat until work measures 6 inches. Work 6 leaves, 4 cherries, 4 short and 2 long stems in same manner. Applique to mat as illustrated.

With White ch 59 and work in same manner as large mat until work measures 5 inches. Work 4 leaves, 2 short and 2 long stems in same manner. Work 4 cherries in same manner having only 3 rows of sc. Applique to mat as illustrated.
