Hot Plate Mats Pattern #3130

All mats are worked with a double strand of thread.

With White, ch 35, 3 dc in 4th st from hook, 1 dc in each of the next 30 sts, 4 dc in end ch, working on other side of ch, work 1 dc in each of the next 50 sts, join to ch 3.

Ch 3, 2 dc in same space, 3 dc in each of the next 4 dc, 1 dc each of the next 28 dc, 3 dc in each of the next 6 dc, 1 dc in each of the next 28 dc, 3 dc in next dc, join, drop White. (92 dc)

With Green, work 1 sc in each st, drop Green.

With White, work a puff st in each st picking up back loop of st only, (puff st: thread over needle, insert in st and pull loop through, thread over needle, insert in same st, pull loop through, thread over and pull through all loops on needle but one, thread over and pull through 2 loops) drop White.

With Green and picking up back loop of st only, work 1 sc in each st on sides of mat and 2 sc in each of the 12 sts at each end, drop Green.

With White, repeat 4th row.

The following rows are all worked in back loop of st only.

With Green, 1 sc in each st on sides increasing 14 sts at each end. (144 sts)

With White, ch 3, (counts as 1 dc) 1 dc in each of the next 3 sc carrying the Green thread underneath, with Green, 1 dc in each of the next 8 sc carrying the White thread underneath, repeat from beginning all around, join. When changing Color always complete the last half of st with the next Color to be used.

Working in dc same as last row, work 1 dc in Green in each of the 4 dc in center of each Green section all around having 8 dc in White between each Green section on sides and increasing 3 sts in each of the 3 White sections at each end, join.

Same as last row having 1 dc in Green in each of the 2 center sts in each Green section all around and having 10 dc in White between each Green section in sides and increasing 2 sts in each of the 3 White sections at each end, drop Green.

With White, 1 dc in each dc increasing a sufficient number of times at each end to keep work flat, drop White.

With Green, 1 sc in each dc increasing a sufficient number of times at each end to keep work flat, drop Green.

With White, 1 puff st in each st, drop White.

With Green, 1 sc in each puff st taking up both loops of st, break Green.

With White, * ch 1, skip 2 sc, 5 dc with ch 1 between each dc in next st, ch 1, skip 2 sc, sc in next sc, repeat from * all around, break thread.

Work 1st 7 rows of small oval mat.

With White, puff st in each sc.

With Green, work 1 sc in each puff st on each side and increasing in every 3rd st 12 times at each end.

Sl st to 14th st from center st at end of mat and work same as 8th row of small oval mat.

With Green, 1 sc in each puff st increasing a sufficient number of times at each end to keep work flat.

With White, repeat puff st row, then repeat 15th and 16th rows of small oval.

With White, ch 6, join to form a ring, ch 3 and work 15 dc in ring, join.

Ch 3, dc in same space, * 2 dc in next dc, repeat from * all around. (32 dc)

With Green, * 1 sc in next dc, 2 sc in next dc, repeat from * all around, drop Green.

The remainder of mat is worked in back loop of st only.

With White, puff st in each st, drop White.

Same as 3rd row.

Same as 8th row of small oval mat.
