* Ch 15, sc in 5th sc between next 2 ch-5 loops. Repeat from * around; join (4 loops).
In each loop make: sc, half dc, 21 dc, half dc, sc. Join (4 petals).
Sl st in 1st 4 sts, sc in next st, * ch 5, in center st of petal make 3 dc, ch 3 and 3 dc; ch 5, skip 7 sts, sc in next st, ch 5, sc in 5th st of next petal. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 3, half dc where 1st sc was made.
Ch 3 (to count as dc), * dc in next sp, ch 5, dc in next 3 dc; in corner sp make 2 dc, ch 3 and 2 dc; dc in next 3 dc; ch 5, dc in next sp, dc in following sp, ch 5, dc in same sp as last dc. Repeat from * around; join.
Sl st in next 2 sts and in next sp, * ch 5, sc in center dc of 5-dc group; ch 5, sc in corner sp, ch 5, sc in center dc of next dc-group—2 corner sps. (Ch 5, sc in next sp) 3 times. Repeat from * around; join.
6 sc in each loop to within 2nd corner loop, 3 sc in next loop, ch 6, drop loop from hook, insert hook between center sc's of previous loop and pull dropped loop through. In ch-6 loop make (2 sc, ch 3) 3 times, 2 sc in same loop, 3 sc in incompleted loop, 6 sc in next loop, and continue thus around, making a ch-3 loop at center of each side and finishing corners as 1st corner was finished.
Daisy Motif
Starting at center, wind thread 10 times around left forefinger.
36 sc in ring; join.
Ch 4 (to count as tr), tr in next 2 sc, holding back the last loop of each tr on hook; thread over and draw through all loops on hook (a cluster). * Ch 5, tr in next 3 sc, holding back the last loop of each tr on hook; thread over and draw through all loops on hook (another cluster). Repeat from * around (12 clusters). Join to tip of 1st cluster made.
* Ch 5, skip next sp and cluster; in following sp make 10 dtr with ch-1 between; ch 5, skip next cluster and sp, sc at tip of following cluster. Repeat from * 3 more times, ending with ch 2 and dc (instead of ch-5) at tip of 1st cluster made.
Ch 3 (to count as dc), * dc in next ch-5 sp, (ch 5, skip next dtr, the sp and the dtr, sc in next sp) twice. (Ch 5, skip 1 dtr, sc in next sp) twice—2 corner loops made. Ch 5, skip next dtr, the sp and the dtr, sc in next sp, ch 5, dc in next ch-5 sp. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 5, sl st in 3rd st of ch-3 first made.
6 sc in each loop to within 2nd corner loop, 3 sc in corner loop, ch 6, drop loop from hook, insert hook between sc's of previous loop and draw dropped loop through; in loop make (2 sc, ch 3) twice; 2 sc in same loop, ch 1, sc in corresponding ch-3 loop of 1st motif, ch 1, 2 sc in same loop on 2nd motif, 3 sc in next (incompleted) loop, 6 sc in each of next 2 loops, ch 1, sc in side loop of 1st motif, ch 1, 6 sc in next 3 loops, and continue thus around, joining 1st ch-3 loop of next corner to corresponding loop of 1st motif as before. Make 20 four-leaf clover motifs and 12 daisy motifs, and arrange as in illustration, joining motifs as 2nd was joined to 1st motif.
Arm Pieces
Make 6 four-leaf clover motifs and 2 daisy motifs for each arm piece, joining as for chair back.
Tassels
Cut a cardboard 3 inches wide and 5 inches long. Cut 2 strands of thread, each 10 inches long, and place them across length of cardboard. Wind 1 strand of thread 64 times around width. Break off. Pick up both ends of 10-inch strands and tie securely. Remove cardboard and cut loops at one end. Wind a strand of thread tightly 10 times around tassel strands, ½ inch from top, and fasten securely. Sew a tassel to center loop of each inner point along bottom of chair back, and one at inner point of one short end of each arm piece.
