Filet Centerpiece Pattern #7
A filet crochet centerpiece worked from a chart in Daisy mercerized crochet cotton size 30, about 14½" x 21½", originally published in Lily Mills #51, Crochet Country Fair.

Centerpiece
Make a chain about 18" long, sk 8 ch, dc in next 4 ch, (ch 2, sk 2 ch, dc in next 4 ch) 38 times, ch 2, sk 2 ch, dc in next ch. Cut and rip excess chain.
Ch 3, turn, 2 dc in next ch-2 sp, dc in next dc, (ch 2, sk 2 dc, dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in next dc) repeated across (77 sps), with 3 dc in end ch-8.
Ch 5, turn, sk last 3 dc, dc in next dc, (ch 2, dc in next dc) 14 times (14 sps made), (2 dc in next sp, dc in next dc) 4 times (4 blks made). Complete row with 18 sps, 2 blks, 1 sp, 2 blks, 18 sps, 4 blks and 15 sps.
Continue, following Chart. Work each row across to marked center, then work back to edge. Beginning with Row 5, make all large sps on Chart of 5-ch. Work design up to center (Row 63), then reverse Chart and work back from Row 62 thru Row 1. Fasten off.

3 sc in one corner, ch 6, sl st in one lp of 4th ch from hook for a p, ch 3, 3 sc in same corner lp, (ch 6, p, ch 3, 5 sc in next ch-2 sp) repeated around, with each corner like 1st one.
Finishing
Stretch and pin doily right-side-down in true shape. Steam and press dry thru a cloth.
