Pattern instructions

Edging

1st Row

Ch 48. Dc in 4th ch from hook and in next 2 ch (1 bl), ch 2, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch (1 sp); 12 more sps, dc in last 3 ch (1 bl). Ch 3, turn.

2nd Row

Dc in next 3 dc (bl over bl); ch 2, dc in next dc (sp over sp); 3 more sps, (dc in next 2 ch, dc in next dc) 5 times; 4 sps, 1 bl. Ch 3, turn.

3rd Row

1 bl, 3 sps, 8 bls, 2 sps, ch 2, foundation dc in 3rd st of turning ch—to make a foundation dc, thread over, insert hook in st and draw loop through, thread over and draw through 1 loop, thus making a ch st; finish as for a dc. Make 2 more foundation dc by inserting hook in ch-1 of previous dc, then make 1 dc in the usual way (1 bl increased). Ch 3, turn.

Chart

Starting at 4th row, follow chart to top. Then repeat entire design for desired length.
