Materials
M ATERIALS REQUIRED: DAISY Mercerized Crochet Cotton size 30 in White, Art. 65 in 500-yd. skeins or Art. 97 in 350-yd. balls; or Lily MERCROCHET Cotton, size 30 in White, Art. 161, in 300-yd. balls. One Block (size—12 inches square) requires approximately 375 yds. including edge. Steel crochet hook No. 13. GAUGE—6 sps - linch; 6 rows - Linch.
No 1 Block
No. 1 BLOCK—ROW 1—Ch 214 and starting at A on Chart, ** dc in 5thch from hook, dc in next 5 ch (2 blks made), * ch3,sk2ch,scinnext ch, ch 3,sk2ch, dcinnext ch (lacet st made). Repeat from * 3 times. Dc innext 6 dc. Make 23 lacet sts, 2 blks, 4lacet sts ** and 2 blks.
ROW 2—Ch 3, turn, dc in next 6 dc, (ch 5, dc in next dc) 4 times, dc in next 6 dc, (ch5, dc innext dc) 23 times, 2 blks, * (ch 5, dcin next dc) 4 times, 2 blks.
ROW 3—Ch 6, turn, sk 3 dc, scin next dc, ch 3, sk 2 dc, dc innext dc, (5 dc innext sp, dc in next dc) 4 times, ch3,sk 2 dc, scinnext dc, ch 3,sk2 dc, dc in next dc, (ch 3, sc innext ch-5 sp, ch 3, dc in next dc) 3 times, (5 dc in next sp, dc in next dc) twice, 4 lacet sts, 4 blks, llacet st, (4 blks, 4 lacet sts) twice, * 8 blks and 1 lacet st.
ROW 4—Ch6&, turn, sk lacet st, dc in next dc, 8 blks and follow Chart across, ending withch 5, dcinend ch-6. Continue, following Chart, thru Row 70, making the long spsincenter of flowers of ch5, sk 5 sts, dc in next st. Fasten off.
Pistil
Pistil—Ch 12, sk 3 ch, dc inremaining 9 ch.
ROW 2—Ch 3, turn, dc in9 dc. Repeat Row 2 thru Row 6.
ROW 7—Chl, turn, scin Ist dc, (sk1dc, sc innext dc) 4 times.
ROW 8—Ch I, turn, sc in Ist sc, (sk 1 Sc, sc in next sc) twice.
ROW 9—Chl, turn, sk 2 sc, sc inlast sc. Cut 8 inches long, thread to a needle, roll crochet lengthwise and sew edges tog. down back. Tuck end under bottom edge of one flower center and tack across center on dotted line. Repeat on each flower.
Corner Block
CORNER BLOCK—Ch 424 and starting at Aon Chart, repeat Row | of No.1 Block from ** to **. Dc in next 2 ch. Holding back the last lp of each dc on hook, make dc in next 7 ch, thread over and draw thru all 8 los on hook (corner Cluster made at B on Chart), dc in next 3 chand follow Chart across to C.
ROW 2—Repeat Row 2 of No. 1 Block to *. (Ch 5, dc in next dc) 3 times, ch 5, holding back the last lo of each dc on hook, make dc in next 7 dc in corner, thread over and draw thru all 8 lps on hook (corner Cluster made at B corner), (ch 5, dc in next dc) 4 times, 2 blks and follow Chart across to Acorner.
ROW 3—Repeat Row 3 of No.1 Block to *. Make 6 blks, 2 dc in next sp, (3 dc in bal. of so, dc innext Cluster, 3 dc in half of next sp) made into a 7—dc Bcorner Cluster, 2 dc in bal. of same sp, dc in next dc, make 6 bliks and follow Chart across to C corner.
ROW 4—Follow Chart around to Acorner, making a/-dc Cluster at B corner.
ROW 5—Follow Chart across to Bcorner, ch 3, sk 5 dcin corner, sc in next dc, then follow Chart to C corner.
ROW 6—Follow Chart across to B corner, making a 2-dc Cluster in corner, then complete row to Acorner. Continue, following Chart, until Block is worked out to D corner. Make all the squares on the diagonal from B to Dcorners which are marked with a cross, of a /-dc Cluster, and the sps of a 2-dc Cluster. Make the long sps in center of flowers of ch 5, sk 5sts, dc innext st,—the same as in No. 1 Block. Make a Pistil for each flower. Sew Blocks tog. as in Tablecloth Chart.
Edge
EDGE—Make sc around tablecloth,—2 sc ineach sp, sc between sps, and 3scineach corner.
ROW 2—Make sc in each sc around, 3scincenter sc at eachcorner, withach-4 pin every 6thsc, placing psin line between lacet sts. To make ps, ch4, sl stinlast sc.
Blocking
Stretch and pin finished cloth right-side-down on quilting orcurtain frames. Lay a section at a time over an ironing board or padded table, then steam and press dry thrua cloth. Repeat until entire clothis blocked.
