Starting at bottom, ch 75.

Ist row: Dcin 4thch from hook, dcineach ch across (73 dc, counting turning chas ldc). Ch 3, turn.

2nd row: Dcineachdc across. Ch 20, turn.

3rd row: Dcin4thch from hook, dcin each of next 16ch, d cineach of next4dc,*ch2, skip 2dc,dcinnext dc(lsp made). Repeat from * until 22 sps are made, dcin each of next 2 dc; then make a foundation dc as follows: Thread over hook, insert hook in 3rd st of turning ch-3,

thread over and draw through 1 loop (thus a chain st is made), complete as foradc; make another foundation d c by inserting hook in the ch st of previous dc. Continue in this manner until 17 dc inall are increased; then make another dc, but in the usual way. Ch 23, turn.

4th row: Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in each of next 19 ch, dc in each of next 22 dc, 22 sps,dcineachdc across, a foundation d cin 3rd st of turning ch-3; make 20 more foundationdc; then make a dc in the usual way. Ch 20, turn.

5th row: Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc ineach ch across, dc in each of next 25dc,13sps,2dcinnextsp,dcinnextdc(1bl made); 7 more bls, 15sps, dcineachdcacross, foundation dc in 3rd st of turning ch; make 17 more foundation dc, and1dcinthe usual way. Ch 3, turn. Hereafter follow chart, starting at the 6th row from bottom of chart, and working to "A." Fasten and break off. Lay this piece aside.

Then, starting at "B" on chart, ch 33 and work till piece reaches "A" onchart. Fasten and break off. Make another piece same as this for opposite end; do not break off, but continue to follow chart to top row, making scallops as before.

Chart shows 4 of design. To make second half of each row, repeat first half, starting from center and working back. When work reaches top row, reverse the design by working from the second to last row back to the first row. Fasten and break off.
