Sweet Springtime Tablecloth Pattern #7
Floral block tablecloth in Lily Mercrochet Cotton size 30 with White, Bright Nile Green, and flower colors. Block size 4½ inches when blocked. Finished cloth 70 x 92 inches. Originally published in Lily Mills #52, Flower Garden Doilies.

Block
BLOCK—(Size—4½" when blocked)—In White, ch 8, sl st in 1st ch. Ch 5, tr in ring, ch 3, holding back the last lp of each tr on hook, make 2 tr in ring, thread over and pull thru all los on hook (a Cluster made), (ch 15, a 2-tr Cluster in ring, ch 3, a 2-tr Cluster in ring) 3 times, ch 15, sl st in 1st tr. Cut 3" long.
Leaves—Turn, sk 1st 5 ch of one ch-15 lp, * 4 sc in Green across to center of lp, ch 9, a 3-dtr Cluster in 8th ch from hook, ch 4, sl st in Cluster for a p, ch 8, sl st at base of Cluster, (ch 8, a 3-dtr Cluster in starting st of ch-8 a ch-4 p, ch 8, sl st at base of Cluster) twice, sk these 3 leaves, sc in 1-ch sp before 1st leaf, 3 sc in same corner ch-15, ch 2, 7 dtr between next 2 Clusters, ch 2, sk 1st 5 ch of next ch-15 lp and repeat from * around, working over end left from last row. End with ch 2, sl st in 1st sc. Cut 6" long, thread to a needle and fasten off on back.
ROW 3—Turn, sc in White in center leaf at one corner, ch 12, sc in next leaf, * ch 9, dc in center dtr in next shell, ch 9, sc in next leaf, ch 9, (dc, ch 11, dc) in next (corner) leaf, ch 9, sc in next leaf. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 9, dc in 1st corner leaf, ch 5, tr in 3d st of 1st ch-12.
ROW 4—Ch 12, turn, dc in next ch-9 lp, * (ch 9, dc in next lp) repeated across to corner, ch 11, dc in same corner lp. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 9, dc in corner lp, ch 5, tr in 3d st of 1st ch-12.
ROW 5—Ch 5, turn, 4 tr in last ch-5, (ch 9, dc in next lp) repeated around, with ch 9, (a 5 tr, ch 11, 5 tr shell) in corners. End with ch 9, 5 tr in 1st corner, ch 5, tr in top of 1st ch-5. Repeat Row 5 once. Fasten off.
Flower—In Pink, ch 8, sl st in 1st ch. Ch 1, 12 sc in ring. In back lps only, sl st in 1st sc, (ch 2, 2 dc in same sc, 2 dc in next sc, ch 2, sl st in same sc, sl st in next sc) 6 times, ending with only 1 sc. Cut 8" long and use to sew flower on Block. Make one more flower each in Blue, Yellow and Lavender. Tack on Block in same color order, centering each on a tr-shell between leaves in Green row.
No 2 Block
No. 2—BLOCK—Repeat to 2d corner in Row 6. Instead of corner ch-11, make * ch 5, sl st in one lp of center st of a corner lp on 1st Block, ch 5, 5 tr back in corner lp on 2d Block, * (ch 4, sl st in next lp on 1st Block, ch 4, dc back in next lp on 2d Block) repeated across to corner, ending with 5 tr in corner lp. Repeat from * to *, then complete as for 1st Block. Continue to make and join 16 rows of 21 Blocks, being careful to have the color placement of flowers the same in all Blocks.
Edge
EDGE—Join White to one corner, ch 5, a 2-tr Cluster in same lp, (ch 7, sl st in 5th ch from hook for a p, ch 3, a 3-tr Cluster in same corner lp) 3 times, * ch 1, (a 3-tr Cluster, ch 7, (ch 3, a Cluster) all in next lp. Repeat from * around, making 4 Clusters in each corner (like 1st corner). Join and fasten off.
Blocking
BLOCKING—Stretch and pin cloth right-side-down on curtain or quilting frames. Lay frames over an ironing board or padded table a section at a time. Steam and press dry each section thru a cloth until entire cloth is blocked.
