Grapevine Tablecloth Pattern #7045
Charted filet tablecloth in Mercerized Crochet size 30 measuring about 53 x 63 inches when completed. Includes separate scalloped edging worked from chart. Originally published in Spool Cotton #76, Home Decoration.

Cloth
Beginning at bottom of chart, make a chain about 22 yds. long, turn. Ist row: Dcin 8thch from hook, * ch 2, skip 2. ch, dcinnext ch(1sp), repeat from * until 284 sps are made. Ch 5, turn. Cut off remainder of foundation chain.
2nd to 7th rows incl: Skip ch-2,dcindc,*ch2,d cinnext dc, repeat from * across, ending row with] dcin 3rd st of turning ch (284 sps). Ch 5, turn.
8th row: Make 82 sps,2dcinnextsp,dcindc,2dcinnextsp,dcindc (2 bls), then 116 sps, 2 bls, 82 sos. Ch 5, turn.
9th row: 81 sps,2dcinsp,dcineachof next7dc,2dcinnextsp,dc innext dc (4 bls), 114 sps, 4 bls, 81sps, ch 5, turn.
10th row: 37sps,9 bls, 35sps, 4 bls, 17 sps,9 bls, 62 sps, 9 bls, 17 sps, 4bls, 35 sps, 9 bls, 37 sos. Ch 5, turn.

Hereafter follow chart, starting at the 13th row from bottom of chart. The chart shows 4 of design. To make second half of each row, repeat the first half, starting from center and working back. When work reaches to the top row, reverse the design, by working back from the top row to the Ist row.
Edging
Edging: To begin, ch 53, turn. Ist row: Dc in 8thch from hook, ch 2, skip 2. ch, dc in each of next 4 ch, * ch 2, skip 2 ch, dcinnext, repeat from * to end of ch(13sps). Ch 5, turn.
2nd row: Dcin4thch from hook, dcinnext ch, dcin dc,2dcinsp,dcinnextdc(2bls), 6sps,1bl,5sps, 1bl, 2 sps. Ch 5, turn.
3rd row: 3sps,1bl, 4sps, 2 bls, 2 sps, 1 bl, 35sps. Thench5, slstin 3rd st of turning ch. Ch 8, turn. Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc ineach of next 4 ch, sl st in 3rd st of ch-5, turn. Slstin each dc just made (thus bringing work to outer edge). Ch 5, turn.
4th row: 6sps, 2 bls, 1sp, 2 bls, 4sps,1bl, 3sps. Ch 5, turn.
Hereafter follow chart, starting at the 5th row from bottom of chart, thus making scallops, until edging measures same length as one side of cloth. Then follow chart for corner. Break off thread, and attach to side of corner and continue to make scallops for other side of cloth. Work thus for other two sides. Sew edging to cloth with over and over stitches.
