Filet Tablecloth Pattern #7

M ATERIALS REQUIRED: DAISY Mercerized Crochet Cotton size 30. 21-skeins White or Ecru for size 60 x 80 inch cloth,—108 Blocks joined 9 x12. Steel crochet hook No. 13.

FILET BLOCK—(Size—6% inches when blocked)— Starting in center, ch 9, dc in 9th ch from hook, (ch 5, dcin same st) twice, ch 2, join with dc in 3d st of Ist lo.

ROW 2— Ch 3,2 dc over bar of last dc, dc innext st, *(3 dc, ch5, 3 dc) innext ch-5 corner sp, dc in next dc. Repeat from * twice. 3 dc in next sp, ch 2, join with dc in top of ch-3.

Mark the right side of this row as right side of Block. ROW 3—Ch 3, turn, 2dcin Ist sp, * dcinnext dc,ch5,sk5dc, dc in next dc, (3 dc, ch 5, 3 dc)incorner ch-5. Repeat from * around. End with 3 dc inend sp, ch 2, join with dc in top of ch-3.

ROW 4—Ch 3, turn, 2 dcin Ist sp, * dc innext 4dc,ch5, dcinnext 4 dc, (3dc,ch5, 3dc)in corner ch-5. Repeat from * around. End with 3 dcinend sp, ch 2, join with dc intop of ch-3.

ROWS 5 and 6—Continue insame way, following Chart, starting and ending each row and making corners the same as in Row 4.

ROW 7—Ch 9, turn, sk Ist sp, dc innext dc, * ch 2, sknext 2 dc, dcinnext 4 dc, 2 dc innext sp, dc innext 4 dc, ch5, sk 5 dc, dcinnext 4 dc, 2 dcinnext sp, dcinnext 4 dc, ch 2, sk 2 dc, dc innext dc, ch5, dc in 3d st of corner ch-5, ch5, dc in next dc. Re- peat from * around. End withch 5, join with sl st in 4th st of ch-9.

ROW 8—Ch 4, turn, 3dcinsame st withsl st, *ch5, dc innext dc, ch2, dcinnext 7 dc, ch2, sk 2 dc, dc innext dc, ch5, dc innext dc, ch2, sk 2 dc, dc innext 7 dc, ch 2, dc in next dc, ch5, 7 dc in 1lp of next (corner) dc. Repeat from * around. End withch5, 3dcinsame st with Ist 3 dc, join with sI st in top of ch-4.

ROW 9—Ch 4G, turn, 3 dc in same st with sl st, dc in next 3 dc. Follow Chart across, at corner make dc in Ist 3 dc, 7 dc in next (corner) dc, dc in next 3 dc. Continue around in same way, end with dc in 3 dc, 3dcinsame st with Ist 3 dc, join with sl st in top of ch-4.

ROW 10—Ch5, turn, sk 2 dc, dc innext dc, ch2, sk2 dc, dc innext dc, * 5 dcinnext sp, dc innext dc, (ch 5, dc

in next dc) twice. Repeat from * once. 5 dc innext sp, dc innext dc, ch2,sk2 dc, dcinnext dc, ch2, sk 2 dc, (dc, ch 5, dc) in next (corner) dc, (ch 2, sk 2 dc, dc in next dc) twice. Repeat from * around. End with ch 2, join with dc in 3d st of Ist ch-5. Continue, following Chart thru Row 16, turning each row and starting and ending each rowasin Row 10.

ROW 17—Ch 3, turn, (2 dc in next sp, dc in next dc) twice, dc in next 9 dc, work in pattern across to corner. In corner ch-5 make 3 dc, ch 5, 3 dc. Follow Chart around, end with 3 dcinendsp, ch 2, join with dc in top of Ist ch-3.

ROW 18—Ch 5, turn, dc in next dc, (ch 2, sk 2 dc, dc innext dc) 5 times, follow Chart around with (dc, ch5, dc) in 3d (corner) st of ch-5 at each corner. End with ch 5, join with sl stin 3d st of Ist ch-5.

ROW 19—Edge—Ch 3, (2 dc, ch4, 3 dc) innext sp, * (ch 3, sk 2 sps, innext so make 3 dc, ch 4, 35 dc) 11 times, ** (3 dc, ch9, 3 dc) in corner ch-5, (3 dc, ch 4,3dc)innext sp. Repeat from * around, join to top of Ist ch-3. Fasten off.

2d BLOCK—Repeat to ** in Row 19. 3 dc in corner sp, ch 4,slstin 5th(center) st of acorner |p on Ist Block, ch 4, 3 dc backinsame corner sp on 2d Block, 3 dc innext sp, ch 2, sl stinnext shell on Ist Block, ch 2, 3 dc backin same sp on 2d Block. Join each shell across side in same way, then join corner shellin same way as Ist corner. Complete row as for Ist Block. Join a 3d Block to 2d Block, then joina 4th Block to 3d and Ist Blocks. Make and join Blocks for de- sired size tablecloth.

Stretch and pin tablecloth right-side-down on quilting or curtain frames. Lay asection at a time over a padded table or ironing board. Steam and press dry thrua cloth. Repeat until entire cloth is blocked. When dry remove from frame.
