Hexagon Dish Mat Pattern #759

Pattern instructions
Hexagon
Use thread double throughout.
Ch 5, join with sl st to form ring. Ch 1 (to count as 1 sc).
5 sc in ring. Join with sl st to ch-1. Ch 1, turn.
From here on, pick up back loop of sc's. Sc in back loop of 1st st, and 2 sc in each of next 5 sts. Join with sl st, ch 1, turn.
Sc in 1st st next to the ch-1. (This forms the increasing at that point.) * Sc in next st, 2 sc in next, repeat from *, making 18 sts in this rnd. Continue in this way for each rnd, making 6 increases to each rnd at the points of the preceding rnd. Make 9 ribs (2 rnds form a rib). Fasten off and make another the same.
Sew 2 sides together as in illustration.
Triangular Pieces
Ch 3.
Sc in 2nd ch from hook and sc in next st. Ch 2, turn.
2 sc in back loop of 2nd st from hook, sc in next, 2 sc in next. Ch 2, turn.
Continue in this way, working 2 sc at the beginning and end of each row and ch 2, turn, until piece fits triangular section of mat. Sew in place.
