Yarn note

1-70 yd. skein each White, Yellow, Pink and Moss will make 1 large and 3 small mats

Small Mat

Foundation

With White ch 4, join to form a ring, work 8 sc in ring. Do not join rounds. Place a marker at beg of each round.

2nd ROUND

2 sc in each sc.

3rd ROUND

Work in sc working 2 sc in every other sc.

4th ROUND

Inc in every 3rd st.

5th ROUND

Pick up and work over Yellow, * work 1 sc in each of next 2 sts, insert hook in next st, pull through, drop White, pick up Yellow and complete sc with Yellow, work 4 dc in next sc, YO, insert hook in same space, pick up and work off 2 loops, drop Yellow, pick up White and complete dc, repeat from * all around, join in 1st sc, cut both colors.

6th ROUND

Attach Pink in any 1st dc, sc in same space, * dc in next dc, 3 dc in center dc, dc in next dc, sc in next dc, skip 3 sc, sc in next dc, repeat from * ending last half of last sc with Moss, cut Pink, join in 1st sc.

7th ROUND

Ch 1, sc in same st, work 1 sc in each st working 3 sc in each center dc of each scallop, do not join.

8th ROUND

Working in back loop of sts only work 1 sc in each sc working 3 sc in center st of each scallop, join in 1st sc, cut yarn.

EMBROIDERY

With Yellow embroider center in lazy daisy st working sts from center to base of center st of 5 sc group of 5th round.

Large Mat

Foundation

Work 1st 4 rounds same as small mat.

5th ROUND

Inc in every 4th st.

6th ROUND

Inc in every 5th st.

7th ROUND

Inc in every 6th st.

8th ROUND

Inc in every 7th st.

9th ROUND

With Yellow work in same manner as 5th round of small mat but work 1 sc in each of 7 sts between scallops.

10th ROUND

Attach Pink in 1st dc, ch 3, * work 2 dc in each dc working 3 dc in center dc, skip 3 sc, sc in next sc, skip next 3 sc, repeat from * all around, join in 1st dc.

11th and 12th ROUNDS

Same as 7th and 8th rounds of small mat, join, cut yarn.

Embroidery

Embroider in same manner as small mat, but work lazy daisy sts into base of sc of 6th round.
