Ch18,s cin 2nd st from hook and work 19 sc over balance of ch, sl st in next 2 sc of center, ** ch], turn, working overs c andin back loops only, work1scineach of the next 19 sc, ch 3, turn, skip 2 chs, work 1s cinnext ch, lscineach of the next 5sc,* ch, turn, 1s cineach of the next 4sc,ch 3, turn, skip 2 chs, 1s cinnextch,1scineach of the next 4sc,1lscinnext 2sc onbase of scroll, repeat from * 6 times, sl stinnext 4s c of center, ch 17, turn, scin 3rd p from bottom of scroll just completed, ch 1, turn and work 20 sc over ch, sl stinnext 2sc of center, repeat from ** until 7 scrolls are completed. 5th Row. Sli st to center of loop,scinloop, **ch/7, slstin Ath st from hook for p, ch9, sil stin 4th st from hook for p, * ché, slstin 4th st from hook for p, repeat from *, ch 2, skip last 3 picots, 3 trcin 2nd chafter Ist p, holding the last loop of each trc on needle, thread over and pull through all 1 loops on needle at one time, (a cluster st) ch 6,slstin 4th st from hook for p, ch 3, sc in next loop, repeat from ** all around, break thread.

Suggestions for napkins to match. Cut squares of linen any size desired allowing inch for hemstitching. Draw 6 or more threads inch from edge. Baste hem meeting the drawn threads. Working on the wrong side and beginning at left of hem, pick up 4 or 5 threads (from right to left) pull needle through, tighten and make a second st inthe hem, pick up the next 4 or 5 threads, pull thread through and fasten with a second st. Repeat all around.

Crocheted Motif. Repeat Ist and 2nd rows of motif then repeat 3rd row working 4 scrolls only. Over remainder of ring work arow of sc working a picot after every 3rd st. Appliqué to one corner of napkin.
