Pattern instructions

Lace

1st row

Starting at bottom of chart, make a chain 72 inches long (15 chsts to linch). Ist row: Dcin 8thch from hook; (ch 2, skip 2 ch, dc innext ch) 3 times—4 sps made; * dc innext 6dc—2bls made; 4sps. Repeat from * 20 more times, 2 bls, 6 sps; (2 bls, 4 sps) 22 times. Cut off remaining chain.

2nd row

Ch5, turn. 2nd row: Dcinnextdc;(dcinnext2ch,dcin next dc) twice—2 bls made; (4 sps, 2 bls) 21 times; 4 sps, 4 bls; (4 sps, 2 bls) 22 times, ch 2, skip 2 ch, dc innext ch. Ch 5, turn.

3rd row

3rd row: 1sp, 10 bls, 248 sps, 10 bls, 1sp. Ch 5, turn.

4th row

4th row: 1sp, ch2, skip 2dc,dcinnext4dc,4sps, 4 bls, 100 sps, 3 bls, 42 sps, 3 bls, |OO sps, 4 bls, 4 sps, 1 bl, 2sps. Ch 3, turn. Chart shows % of design. To make secondhalf of each row, repeat the first half, starting at center and working back.

5th–60th rows

Starting at 5th row, follow chart to top.

61st row

Ch 5, turn. 61st row: 17 sps, 1 bl, 1] sps, 3bls,1sp, 6 bls, 6sps, 4bls, 1O sps, 1 bl. Ch 3, turn.

62nd row

Starting at 62nd row, follow chart to top; then reverse chart and work back to 62nd row incl. (149 short rows). Fasten off. Count 59 sps in from opposite side, attach thread to 4th dc of next bl and work to correspond, working back to 6élst (not 62nd) row incl. (150 short rows). Do not break off, but ch 450 (15 ch sts to linch) and complete 6lst row at opposite side. Then follow chart to first row, working across chain. Fasten off.

Finishing

Linen

Cut linen into a square to fit in center of lace, allowing for narrow hem. Hem linen. Sewto lace.
