Notes
A combination of colors may be used very effectively as the design is worked crosswise of the pillow. Suggested combinations are: Clark's O.N.T. Knitting & Crochet Cotton or J. & P. Coats Crochet Cord — 26 Nile Green and 106 Sport Green; 102 Coffee Brown and 9 Yellow; 25 Crystal Blue and 88 Peach; 68 Skipper Blue and 84 Beige. Clark's O.N.T. or J. & P. Coats Pearl Cotton — 44 Royal Blue and 51 Golden Brown; 81 Dk. Brown and 9 Yellow; 12 Black and 26 Nile Green.
Large sps measure about ½ inch each way and should be exactly square.
Pillow Top
Ch 305, tr in 16th ch from hook, * ch 5, skip 5, tr in next, and repeat from * to end. 49 sps in row.
Turn, ch 7, * tr in center st of ch-5 of preceding row, ch 2, tr in next tr, ch 2, repeat from * to end. Repeat 2nd row. Make 3 rows like 1st row, beginning them with ch-9. Repeat 2nd row 3 times. Repeat 1st row.
Turn, ch 6, * tr in 2nd ch of preceding row, ch 1, skip 1, tr in next ch, ch 1, tr in tr, ch 1. Repeat from * until 4 sps of preceding row have been worked over, and over 5th sp make large sp. Repeat from beginning of row to end. End of row like beginning. Repeat 1st row. Make 2 rows like 11th row. Repeat 1st row. Make 4 rows like 11th row. Repeat 1st row. Make 2 rows like 11th row. Repeat 1st row. 1 row like 11th row. Repeat 1st row. This completes pattern band.
For center part, make 3 rows like 2nd row, 3 rows like 1st row, 5 rows like 2nd row. These 5 rows are center of pillow top. Reverse for 2nd half, beginning with 3 rows of large sps to correspond with those worked before 5 center rows.
