New Angles Tablecloth Pattern #1

FLOWER BLOCK—(Size—4")—Ch/, sI st in Ist ch. Ch 12, dc inring. Hold starting end of thread around ring and working over it, (ch 9, dc in ring) 4 times, ch 4, trin 3d st of Ist ch-12.

ROW 2—Chl, turn, sc intr, 2 hdc over next ch-4. Holding back the last lp of each dc on hook, make 2 dc over same ch-4, thread over and pull thru all lps on hook at once (a Cluster made). * Trin next dc, (a 2—dc Cluster, 2 hdc, 1sc, 2 hdc and a 2-dc Cluster) all in next lo. Repeat from * around. After final 2 hdc, join with sl st in Ist sc.

ROW 3—Chl, turn, 2scinsame sc, (sc innext 3 sts, 2 scin next tr, sc innext 3 sts, * 2 sc innext sc) repeated around, ending at *, slstin Ist sc.

ROW 4—* Ch 15, sl stin 5thch from hook fora p,sk1ch, hdc in next dc, (dc in next 2 ch) made into a Cluster, trinnext ch, dtrin next 4 ch, (2 trin final ch) made into a Cluster, sk 4sc oncenter, sl st in next sc. Repeat from * around (12 points). Cut 6" long, thread to aneedle and fasten off on back. Mark Ist petal in row.

ROW 5—Sc in tip of marked petal, * (ch 5, dtr) 6 times in tio of next petal, ch 5, sc in next petal, ** ch 15, sc in next petal. Repeat from * twice and from * to ** once. Ch 7, dtr in lstsc.

ROW 6—Ch 15, turn, * trinch-5 between next 2 tr, ch 5, trinnext sp, ch 5, (dtr, ch 13, dtr) innext sp, (ch 5, tr in next sp) twice, ch 12, dc innext ch-15 lp, ch 12 and repeat from * around. Join final ch-12 with sl st in 3d st of Ist ch-15.

ROW 7—Cnh ll, turn, scinsame st, * 13 sc innext ch-12 lp, (7 sc innext sp) twice, 15 sc in next (corner) Ip, (7 sc innext sp) twice, 13 sc innext sp, sc in dc. Repeat from * around. Joinwithslstin Ilstsc.

ROW 8—Ch4,*(sk4sc,a 2dc,ch3and2dc shellall in back Ip of next sc) twice, (a shell in back lp of center sc of next sp) twice, sk 3sc on corner sp, ashellin next sc, sk next 3 sc, ashellin next (center) sc, ch 6, sl stin one lp of starting st of ch-6 forap, ashellin same sc with last shell, sk 3sc, ashellin next sc, (ashellin center sc of next sp) twice, sk 3sc onnext sp, a shellin next sc, sk 4sc, ashellinnext sc, chl, sk remaining 4sconsame sp, dcinnext sc between sps, **ch5, sl stin dc forap,chl and repeat from * around, ending with ch], slstin 3d st of Ist ch-4,ch5,slstinsame st. Cut 6" long and fasten off on back.

No. 2—FLOWER BLOCK—Repeat to ** in Row 8. Ch 2, sl stin one lp of center st of acorner p on Ist Block, ch 2, sl st backin last dc to complete joining-p, chl, sk 4sc,2 dc in one lp of next sc, ch 2, sl st innext shell on Ist Block, ch 2,2 dc backinsame sc with last 2 dc to complete shell. Join the next 5 shells in same way to the next 5 shells on Ist Block. Ch 3, slstin one lp of center st of next p on Ist Block, ch2,sklast 2 sts of ch-3, sl st back in next ch to complete joining-p, ashellin same sc with last shell and complete Row 8 as for Ist Block.

FILET BLOCK—Ch/, si stinIstst. Ch 3, 3 dc inring, (ch 5, 4 dcinring) 3 times, ch 2, dcintop of Ist ch-3. ROW 2—Ch 3, turn, 2 dc in next ch-2 sp, * dc innext 4 dc, (3 dc, ch5, 3 dc) allin corner ch-5. Repeat from * twice. Dc in next 4 dc, 3 dcinnext sp, ch2, dc intop of Ist ch-3.

ROW 3—Ch 5, turn, sk last ch-2 sp, dc in next dc, * ch 2, sk 2 dc, dc in next 4dc, ch 2,sk2 dc, dcinnext dc, ** ch2, (dc, ch 5, dc) in 3d st of corner ch-5, ch 2, dc in next dc. Repeat from * twice and from * to ** once. Ch 2, dc innext dc, ch 2, dc in 3d st of next ch-5,

ROW 4—Ch5, turn, sklast ch-2 sp, dc innext dc, (ch 2, dc in next dc) twice, * ch2,sk 2 dc, dcin next dc, (ch2, dc innext dc) twice, ch 2, (dc, ch5, dc) in 3d st of corner ch-5, (ch 2, dc innext dc) 3 times. Repeat from * twice. Ch 2, sk 2 dc, dc in next dc, (ch 2, dc in next dc) 3 times, ch2, dc in 3d st of next ch-5.

ROW 5—Chl, turn, 4sc overlast ch-2, 3scin each ch-2 sp around, with 7 scincornersps. End with 3 scin bal. of Ist corner, sl stin back lp of Ist sc.

ROW 6—Ch 3, (dc, ch 3 and 2 dc) allin same sc. Nowjoin this Block in corner between Ist 2 Flower Blocks:—Ch 3, sl stin one lp of center st of p on center of side of Ist Block, ch 2, sklast 2 sts of ch-3, sl st back in next ch, 2 dc in same corner sc with last shell, ch 2 and working towards corner angle between 2 Flower Blocks, make sl st in next shell on Flower Block, ch 2,2 dc backinsame sc, ** make a shell in center sc in next ch-2 Sp, joining it to next shell on Flower Block, * sk next ch-2 sp, then make a shellin center sc onthe next sp, joining it to next shell on Flower Block. Repeat from * twice. Make a shellin center sc on corner, joining it to next shell on Flower Block. ** Ch 3, sl stin cornerinjoined ps of 2 Flower Blocks, ch 2, sl st back in starting st of ch-3, a shell in same corner sc with last shell, joining it to next shell on 2d Flower Block. Repeat from ** to **. Ch 3, sl stin corner p onFlower Block, ch 2, sl st backin starting st of ch-3,a shellin same corner sc, a shellin center sc in next ch-2 sp, (sk next sp, ashellin center sc in next ch-2 sp) 3 times, (a shell, ach-6 p andashell) allin cornersc. Make 4 shells across next side in same way andjoin with sl stin Ist ch-3. Cut 6" long and fasten off on back.

Join another Filet Block in opposite corner-angle on other side of 2 Flower Blocks. Continue to join Flower and Filet Blocks, following Chart, always joining corner ps on Flower Blocks to p on center of sides of adjoining Flower Blocks. Be careful that the petals of stars in center (Row 1) of all Flower Blocks always point in same direction. Fillin all squares between Flower Blocks with Filet Blocks.

Stretch and pin cloth right-side-down on curtain or quilting frames. Lay frames over an ironing board or padded table a section ata time, steaming and pressing dry each section thru a cloth until entire clothis blocked.
