A North Star chair set of joined square motifs with cluster centers and double-treble corner clusters for the chair back and arm pieces.

- Milward's steel crochet hook · No. 6 or 7
Pattern instructions
Chair Back First Motif
Ch 4; make 2 dc in 1st ch of ch-4, retaining on hook last loop of each dc, thread over and draw through 3 remaining loops, ch 1 tightly (cluster). Repeat from beginning until 4 clusters are made, sl st at base of 1st cluster made.
Ch 5 (to count as tr), * tr in ch-1 following this cluster, ch 5; make 3 dtr (3 times around hook) in same place, retaining on hook last loop of each st; thread over and draw through remaining loops, ch 1 tightly (dtr cluster is corner); ch 5 more, tr in same place. Repeat from *, ending with ch 5, join to 5th st of 1st ch-5.
Sl st in next tr and in 1st st of ch-5, * 5 sc in ch-5 sp, ch 9, 5 sc in next ch-5 sp following cluster, ch 5. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 5, join to 1st sc. Fasten off.
Chair Back Second Motif
Like 1st motif to within 3rd rnd.
Sl st in tr and in next ch, 5 sc in sp, ch 4, drop loop from hook, insert hook in a ch-9 of 1st motif and draw loop through, ch 4, 5 sc in next sp on motif in work, ch 2, drop loop from hook, insert it in corresponding ch-5 loop, draw loop through, ch 2, 5 sc in next sp, ch 4, drop loop from hook, insert it in corresponding ch-9, draw loop through, ch 4, 5 sc in next sp. Complete rnd as for 1st motif. Make 5 x 7 motifs, joining at all adjacent loops.
Arm Pieces
Make 4 x 5 motifs, joining as for chair back.
