Pony Tail Hat Pattern

Starting at lower edge with Canary Yellow, make a chain long enough to fit snugly around head, having an even number of chains. Join with sl st, being careful not to twist.

Ch 1, sc in same place as sl st, sc in each ch around. Drop Yellow, insert hook in first sc and draw a loop of White through sc and loop on hook, thus joining rnd and changing color. Ch 1, turn.

Sc in back loop of each sc around. Drop White, pick up Yellow and join rnd as before. Ch 4, turn.

Skip first 2 sc on previous Yellow rnd, dc in free loop of next sc, * ch, skip next sc on same rnd, dc in next sc. Repeat from * around. Drop Yellow, pick up White, insert hook in 3rd ch of turning chain and join as before. Turn.

Working over previous Yellow rnd, dc in first White sc, * ch 1, skip next sc, dc in next sc. Repeat from * around. Join to first dc, changing color as before. Ch 4, turn.

Working over previous rnd, dc in first dc, * ch1, dc in next dc. Repeat from * around. Join to 3rd ch of starting chain, changing color as before. Turn.

Working over previous rnd, dc in first dc, * ch1, dc in next dc. Repeat from * around. Join to first dc, changing color as before. Ch 4, turn.

Repeat 5th rnd. Join without changing color. Break off.

Cut 2 strands of Yellow, each 48 inches long. Double the strands to form a loop, insert hook in any ch-1 sp and draw loop through, draw loose ends through loop and pull up tightly. Make a fringe in each sp around.

Tie a strand of Yellow tightly around fringe to form a pony tail.

With Yellow make a chain to fit tightly around pony tail, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Break off. Sew ring in place around pony tail. Trim ends of pony tail to desired length.
