Queen Anne's Lace Tablecloth Pattern #7050

Spool Cotton #76, Home Decoration Materials: Clark's O.N.T. orJ. & P. Coats Mercerized Crochet, size 20, White or Ecru. 221 large motifs and 192 fill-in-motifs are required for a tablecloth of about 60 x 80 inches (13 x17 large motifs). Each large motif requires 25 yds. of thread and each fill- in-motif requires 5 yds. of thread. For entire tablecloth, 53 balls of Clark's O.N.T. or 44 balls of J, & P. Coats Mercerized Crochet is required. Milward's steel crochet hook No. 8.

First Large Motif. Ch 6, join with sl st to formring.

Ist rnd: Ch 6,*trinring, ch 2, repeat from * until 7 sos are made, thench 2, sist to 4th st of ch-6 first made (8 sps).

2nd rnd: Ch4, 4trin Ist sp, *ch2, 5 trinnext sp, repeat from * around. Join last ch 2 to 4th st of ch-4 first made (8 tr- groups).

3rd rnd: Ch 4, trin same place as sl st, trin each of next 4tr, * trin lst ch of ch-2, ch 3, trinnext ch of same ch-2, trin each of next 5 tr, repeat from * around. Joinlast ch 3 with slstto 4th st of ch-4 first made. Then sl stin Ist tr of group.

4th rnd: Ch 4, trin each of next 4 tr, working off together as fora cluster, * ch 4, 5trinnext ch-3 sp, ch 4, skip Ist tr of next group, trin each of next 5 tr, working off together as for acluster, repeat from * around. Joinlast ch Awith sl st to tip of cluster first made.

5th rnd: Ch8, * skip first 3 ch of ch-4, trinnext ch, trineach of next 5 tr, I trin Ist ch of next ch-4, ch 4, Il trintip of cluster, ch 4, repeat from * around. Join last ch 4 with sl st to 4th st of ch-8 first made.

6th rnd: * Ch12, skip Ist tr of next group, trin each of next 5 tr, working off together as foracluster, ch12,1s cin the single tr between the groups, repeat from * around. Joinlast ch 12 with sl st to base of ch-12 first made (16 loops). Break off. This completes alarge motif.

Second Large Motif. Work as for first large motif to 5th rndincl. 6th rnd: Ch 12, skip Ist tr of next group, trin each of next 5 tr, working off together as for acluster, ch6, sl st in first ch-12 loop on first motif (always keeping right side of work on top), ch6,1scinthenext single tron second motif, ch 6, sl stinnext ch-12 loop on first motif, ch 6, and make a cluster back on second motif as before. Complete this rnd as in first motif with no more joinings. Break off.

Make 1] more motifs joining each motif to previous one as second one was joined to first, leaving 6 ch-12 loops free oneach side of joinings on each motif, thus making a strip of 15 motifs.

Make asecond strip of 13 motifs joining to first strip as follows: First Motif of Second Strip. Work as for second motif of first strip and join, as before, to first motif along side of first strip, leaving 2 ch-12 loops free on first motif (counting from joining of first two motifs).

Second Motif. Work as before to 5th rndincl. and join to the two adjacent motifs as follows: 6th rnd: Work as for 6th rnd of previous motif, but join to the 3rd and 4th ch-12 loops (counting from joining) of second motif on first strip, then work 2 ch-12 loops back onsame motif, then join to the $rdand 4th ch-12 loops of first motif of second strip. Complete rnd as before, but with no more joinings. Break off. (Note. 2 ch-12 loops are left free on each motif later to be joined to fill-in-motif). Work next 11 motifs of this strip thus joining each motif to adjacent two motifs. Work 15 more strips joining as before.

Fill-in-Motif. Ist rnd: Ch 8, trin 8th ch from hook, ch 4, trin same place, ch 4, trin same place, ch 4, join with sl st to 4th ch of ch-8 first made (4sps).

2ndrnd: Ch4, 6trinfirst sp, *ch5, 7trin next sp, repeat from * around, joining last ch 5 with sl st to Ath st of ch-4 first made. SI stin 1st tr.

3rd rnd: Ch 4, trin each of next 4 tr, working off together as fora cluster, ch 5, join to Ist ch-12 loop (as large motifs were joined) of a large motif, * ch5,scinnext ch-4 loop back on fill-in- motif, ch 5, join to 2nd ch-12 loop of same large motif, ch 5, work a 5-tr cluster back on fill-in-motif, ch 5, join to Ist ch-12 loop of next large motif, and repeat from * around. Join and break off. Work and join the remainder of fill-in- motifs in the same way.

Edging. Attach thread to Joining point between any two large motifs alongside. * Work 7scin|stloop of next motif, in each of remaining loops of same motif work: 1s c, lhalfdc,5dc, 4tr,5dc,lhalfdc,1sc.Inlast loop work 7sc. Repeat from * all around tablecloth.

Foracrisp effect, starch and press.

A bedspread made with these same simple motifs using Clark's O.N.T. Knitting and Crochet Cotton will be most effective. Use the same instructions and Milward's steel crochet hook No. 4or 5. The resulting motifs will be larger. The finished bedspread for a full size double bed should measure about 90 x 108 inches.

Spool Cotton #173, Old and New Favorites MATERIALS: CLARK'S BIG BALL MERCERIZED CROCHET, size 20. Milward's Steel Crochet Hook No. 8. GAUGE: Using the materials recommended, each motif measures 4/4" in diameter and requires about 24 yds. of thread. Fill-in motif requires about 5 yds. RECOMMENDED USES: Tablecloths, bedspreads, runners.

FIRST MOTIF... Ch6, join with sl st.

Ist rnd: Ch 6, * trin ring, ch 2. Repeat from * 6 more times, join to 4th st of ch-6(8 sps).

2nd rnd: Ch4, 4trin Ist sp, * ch2, 5 trinnext sp. Repeat from * around. Joinlast ch-2 to 4th st of ch-4.

3rdrnd: Ch4, trinsame place as sl st, trinnext 4 tr, * trin Ist chof ch-2, ch 3, trinnext chof same ch-2, trinnext 5 tr. Repeat from * around. Join last ch-3 to 4th st of ch-4; sl stin Ist trof group.

4th rnd: Ch 4; make trin next 4 tr, working off together as fora cluster; * ch 4, 5trinnext ch-3sp,ch4, skip Ist trof next group; make trin next 5 tr, working off together as fora cluster. Repeat from * around. Joinlast ch-4 to tip of first cluster.

5th rnd: Ch 8, * skip Ist 3 chof ch-4, trin next ch, trin next 5tr, trin lst ch of next ch-4, ch 4, trin tip of cluster, ch 4. Repeat from * around. Join to 4th st of ch-8.

6th rnd: * Ch 12, skip Ist tr of next group, trin next 5 tr, working off together as fora cluster; ch12, sc inthe single tr between groups. Repeat from * around. Join last ch-12 to base of first ch-12 (16 loops). Break off.

SECOND MOTIF ... Work Ist 5 rnds as for Ist motif. 6th rnd: Ch 12, skip Ist tr of next group; trinnext 5 tr, working off together as for aCluster; ch6, sl stin Ist ch-12 loop on lst motif (always keep right side of work on top), ch 6, sc in next single tron 2nd motif, ch6, sl stin next ch-12 loop on Ist motif, ch 6, make acluster back on 2nd motif. Complete this rnd as for Ist motif (no more joinings). Join 2 ch-loops of all adjacent sides in this manner, thus leaving 2 loops free between joinings, for fill-in motifs to be made later.

FILL-IN MOTIF ... Ist rnd: Ch 8, trin 8th ch from hook, ch 4, trinsame place, ch 4, trinsame place, ch 4, join to 4th ch of ch-8 (4sps).

2nd rnd: Ch4, 6trin Ist sp, * ch 5, 7trin next sp. Repeat from * around, ch5, join to 4th st of ch-4; sl stin Ist tr.

3rd rnd: Ch 4; make trin next 4 tr, working off together as for acluster; ch 5, join to Ist ch-12 loop of a large motif (as large motifs were joined), * ch 5, sc in next ch-5 loop back on fill-in motif, ch 5, join to 2nd ch-12 loop of same large motif, ch 5, work a 5-tr cluster back on flll- in motif, ch 5, join to Ist ch-12 loop of next large motif. Repeat from * around. Fasten off.

EDGING... Attach thread to joining point between any 2 large motifs. * 7 sc in Ist loop of next motif; in each remaining loop of same motif make sc, half dc, 5 dc, 4 tr, 5 dc, half dc, sc; 7scinlast loop. Repeat from * all around.
