Two-color square pillow worked with plain and metallic Knit-Cro-Sheen in long single crochet stripes. Finished pillow is 14 inches square. Originally published in Contemporary Crochet Throughout the Home.

Use thread double throughout.

Side

1st row

SIDE (Make 2)... Starting at bottom with the plain "Knit-Cro-Sheen," make a chain 17 inches long. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, * ch 1, skip next ch, sc in next ch. Repeat from * across until row measures 14 inches. Cut off remaining chain. Draw a double loop of "Knit-Cro-Sheen" Metallic through last loop on hook (thus changing color—always change color in this manner). Turn.

2nd row

2nd row: Working over unused color, sc in first sc, * make a long sc over next ch (into the starting chain), ch 1, skip next sc. Repeat from * across, ending with sc in last sc. Change color and turn.

3rd row

3rd row: Working over unused color, sc in first sc, * ch 1, sc in next ch-1 sp. Repeat from * across, ending with ch 1, sc in last sc. Change color and turn.

4th row

4th row: Working over unused color, sc in first sc, * make a long sc over next ch into next long sc 2 rows below, ch 1, skip next sc. Repeat from * across, ending with an sc in last sc. Change color and turn. Repeat 3rd and 4th rows alternately until piece measures 14 inches, ending with a Metallic row. Break off.

Finishing

Join and finish

With wrong sides facing and working through both thicknesses, attach thread to any corner, 3 sc in same place, sc closely around 3 sides, making 3 sc in each corner, insert pillow and complete rnd. Cover buttons as for the White Square Pillow pattern. Sew in place.
