Striped Pillow Pattern
Triangular-motif striped pillow in Gold, Black, and Turquoise with a black gusset. Finished size approximately 15 inches by 19 inches. Originally published in Today's Crochet Book, Book No. 115.

Materials Required: AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "AUNT LYDIA'S" STAR SPUN, Article 235 4 skeins #1 Gold (White with Gold Metallic) and "AUNT LYDIA'S" HEAVY RUG YARN, Article 235 2 skeins each Black and Turquoise or colors of your choice and "AUNT LYDIA'S" CARPET AND BUTTON THREAD, Article 1 1 spool Black. Aluminum crochet hook size G. Kapok or shredded foam rubber for filling.
Front
FRONT: With Gold, ch 7, dc in 4th st from hook, 1 dc in each of the next 2 sts of ch, 5 dc in next st of ch, ch 3, turn.
2nd Row. 5 dc in next dc, 1 dc in each of the next 7 sts, ch 3, turn.
3rd Row. 1 dc in each of the next 8 dc, 5 dc in next dc, 1 dc in each of the next 3 sts, cut yarn, do not turn.
4th Row. Attach Turquoise in 1st st at opposite end, sc in same space, 1 sc in each of the next 10 dc, 3 sc in next dc, 1 sc in each of the next 5 dc, cut yarn, do not turn.
5th Row. Attach Black in 1st sc, ch 3, 1 dc in each of the next 11 sc, 5 dc in next sc, 1 dc in each of the next 6 sc, cut yarn, do not turn.
6th Row. Attach Turquoise in 1st st, sc in same space, 1 sc in each of the next 13 dc, 3 sc in next dc, 1 sc in each of the next 8 dc, cut yarn, do not turn.
7th Row. Attach Gold in 1st sc, ch 3 and working in dc work 1 dc in each st and 5 dc in center st at increasing point, ch 3, turn.
8th Row. Working in dc, work 1 dc in each dc and 5 dc in center st at increasing point, ch 3, turn.
9th Row. Work in same manner as last row but do not ch 3 at end of row, cut yarn, do not turn.
10th Row. Attach Turquoise in 1st st, working in sc, work 1 sc in each dc and 3 sc in center st at increasing point, cut yarn, do not turn.
11th Row. Attach Black in 1st st, ch 3 and working in dc, work 1 dc in each sc and 5 dc in center st at increasing point, cut yarn, do not turn.
12th Row. Same as 10th row. Repeat the last 6 rows twice, then repeat the 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th rows ONCE.
Back
BACK: Work 1st 3 rows same as front but turn at end of last row.
4th Row. Attach Turquoise in 1st st, sc in same space, 1 sc in each of the next 4 dc, 3 sc in next dc, 1 sc in each of the next 11 sts, cut yarn, do not turn.
5th Row. Attach Black in 1st st, ch 3, 1 dc in each of the next 5 sc, 5 dc in next sc, 1 dc in each of the next 12 sc, cut yarn, do not turn.
6th Row. Attach Turquoise in 1st st, sc in same space, 1 sc in each of the next 7 dc, 3 sc in next dc, 1 sc in each of the next 14 dc, cut yarn, turn.
7th and 8th Rows. Same as 7th and 8th rows of front.
9th Row. Working in dc work 1 dc in each dc and 5 dc in center st at increasing point, cut yarn, turn.
10th Row. Same as 10th row of front.
11th Row. Same as 11th row of front.
12th Row. Same as 10th row of front, turn. Repeat the last 6 rows twice, then repeat the 7th, 8th and 9th rows once.
Gusset
GUSSET: With Black ch 11, dc in 4th st from hook, 1 dc in each remaining st of ch, turn.
2nd Row. Ch 3 (counts as 1st dc), 1 dc in each of the next 8 sts, turn. Repeat the last row until gusset is long enough to go around the 4 sides of front, cut yarn leaving a length for sewing. Sew short ends together.
Assembly
With "Aunt Lydia's" CARPET and BUTTON THREAD overcast the 2 striped edges to gusset on wrong side, with Black yarn, overcast the 2 black edges to remainder of gusset. Overcast back to gusset in same manner leaving 1 Black edge of back free. Turn work to right side. Sew zipper along free edge if desired. Fill pillow with kapok or shredded foam rubber and sew opening closed.
