Finishing

Finishing

Pin crocheted pieces into shape and press with hot iron through damp cloth. Cut two pieces of quilting slightly larger than crocheted pieces for sides of lining. Using one lining piece as pattern, cut two pieces of velveteen ¼ inch larger all around than lining. For gussets, cut two strips of quilting each 2½ x 14 inches and two strips of velveteen each 3½ x 27 inches. Sew together the two strips of quilting for gusset, making a strip 2½ x 27 inches. Sew this gusset with narrow seam between the curved edges of the two side pieces of lining. Sew together the two strips of velveteen gusset, then shirr the two long ends so that gusset will fit between the curved edges of the side pieces of velveteen. Sew gusset in place with narrow seam. Sew crocheted pieces onto sides of velveteen cozy, then slip lining inside of velveteen, turn bottom edges of both pieces up slightly and sew together. Tack side edges of velveteen gusset to seams of lining.
