Crocheted Bubble Hat Pattern

Starting at center, ch 4. Join with sl st to form ring.

7 sc in ring. Do not join rnds unless specified; but mark last st of each rnd.

2 sc in each sc around—14 sc.

* Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc (1 sc increased). Repeat from * around—21 sc.

* Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat from * around—28 sc.

Sc in each sc around, increasing 7 sc evenly spaced on each rnd being careful incs do not fall over each other—84 sc at end of 12th rnd and piece measures about 6½ inches in diameter.

Sc in each sc around.

Sl st loosely in each sc. Join with sl st to first sl st. Ch 1, turn and with wrong side facing, work sl st in each sc around. Join to first sl st made on this rnd. Ch 1, turn.

Working in the sl sts of last rnd, sc in same place as last sl st, sc in next st, * ch 5, sc in next 4 sts. Repeat from * around ending with sc in last 2 sts—21 loops with 4 sc between. Do not join rnds.

Skip next sc, * sc in back loop of next sc, sc in next 2 ch, 3 sc in next ch—point, sc in 2 ch, sc in back loop of next sc, skip 2 sc. Repeat from * around, ending with sc in last 2 ch of last loop, sc in back loop of next sc.

* Picking up back loop only throughout, skip next 2 sc, sc in next 3 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc. Repeat from * around.

Repeat 3rd rnd.

Skip next 2 sc, sc in back loop of next 2 sc, * sc in both loops of next 3 sc across point, skip next 6 sc. Repeat from * around.

Skip next 5 sc between first and last points, (insert hook in next sc and pull loop through) twice; yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook, * insert hook in same sc where last loop was pulled through and pull loop through, insert hook in next sc and pull loop through, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook. Repeat from * around—63 sts. Join, ch 1, turn and work sl st in each st around. Join, ch 1, turn.

Pick up back loop only of each st for remainder of hat.

Sc in 3 sl sts, hdc in next 5 sl sts, dc in remaining 55 sts.

Dc in each st around.

Turn hat wrong side out; fold facing up against side. There are 21 holes formed by ch-5's on first rnd of side. On next rnd, the center st of each ch-5 is worked in.

Hdc in next 3 dc, sc in next 5 dc, * ch 5 loosely, sc in center st of next ch-5, ch 5 loosely, skip 2 sts on last rnd, sc in next st. Repeat from * around. Join, break off and fasten. Turn right side out.
