HAT—Band—First Flower ... Starting at center with Dk. Yellow and No. 7 hook, ch 8. Join with sl st to form ring.

(Sc in ring, ch 5) 4 times. Join to first sc.

In each loop around make sc, half dc, dc, 3 tr, dc, half dc, and sc. Join and break off.

SECOND FLOWER... With Lt. Blue work as for First Flower until 1st rnd is completed.

In next loop make sc, half dc, dc, and 2 tr, sl st in corresponding tr on First Flower, in same loop on Second Flower make tr, dc, half dc and sc. Complete rnd as for First Flower.

Make 15 more Flowers in assorted colors, joining in the same way, leaving 1 scallop free between joinings. Join last flower to first flower.

BRIM... Attach Ecru to center of any free scallop on flower band. Sc in same place, * ch6, dc in next dc on next scallop of same flower, dc in next dc on scallop of next flower, ch 6, sc in center of next free scallop. Repeat from * around. Join.

Sl st to center of next loop, sc in same loop, * ch6, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. Join. Break off at end of 3rd rnd.

Attach a double strand of Ecru to any loop on last rnd. Using No. 4 hook make 4 sc in each loop around. Join.

Ch 2, half dc in same place as sl st, half dc in next 9 sc, * 2 half dc in next sc, half dc in next 10 sc. Repeat from * around. Join. Hereafter pick up back loop only of each half dc.

* Half dc in next 10 half dc, 2 half dc in next half dc. Repeat from * around. Join.

Half dc in each half dc around. Join.

Dec 13 half dc evenly around—to dec 1 half dc, work off 2 half dc as 1 half dc. Break off.

CROWN... Attach single strand of Ecru to center of any free scallop on other side of Band. Work as for first rnd of Brim.

Sl st to center of next loop, sc in same loop, * ch6, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. Do not join rnds.

* Ch 6, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around.

* Ch 6, sc in next 2 loops (1 loop decreased). Repeat from * around.

Repeat 17th rnd until all loops are worked off. Break off.

BAG... Starting at bottom, make a band of flowers in assorted colors as for Hat to fit around top of basket.

Attach Ecru to center of any free scallop on band. Work as for Crown of Hat until 16 rnds are completed.

Continue making ch-6 loops around.

Ch4, tr in same loop, * ch 3, 2 tr in next loop. Repeat from * around. Join and turn.

CUFF... Sl st to center of next sp, sc in same sp, * ch 6, sc in next sp. Repeat from * around.

* Ch6, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. Break off at end of 5th rnd.

Make another band of flowers as for Bottom.

Next rnd: Attach Ecru to center of any free scallop on band. Work as for first rnd of Brim.

Sl st to center of next loop, sc in same loop, ch 3, sc in any loop on Cuff, * ch 3, sc in next loop on Band, ch 3, sc in next loop on Cuff. Repeat from * around. Join and break off.

Work as for Brim until 3 rnds are completed.

Attach Hunter's Green to any loop on Edging, sc in same loop, * 5 dc in next sc, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. Join and break off.

Work as for Cuff Edging until 4 rnds are completed.

Attach Ecru to center dc on any scallop, sc in same place, * ch6, sc in center dc of next scallop. Repeat from * around. Join.

Sl st to center of next loop, sc in same place, * ch 6, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. Join. Break off at end of 8th rnd.

Sew crocheted piece to Basket.

Cut 3 strands of Ecru 2 yards long. Twist these strands tightly, then double these strands and twist in the opposite direction. Pass cords through Beading and tie ends securely.
