Hat Pattern #1843
Structured hat worked from center with millinery wire crown and brim, ruffled edge, drawstring chain, headband, and grosgrain ribbon bow trim. Uses 4 threads of Knit-Cro-Sheen throughout. Originally published in Spool Cotton #208, Fascinating Toppers.

Pattern instructions
Crown
Starting at center, ch 4. Join.
10 sc in ring.
2 sc in each sc around.
Sc in each sc around.
2 sc in each sc around.
Sc in each sc around.
* Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat from * around (60 sc).
Sc in each sc around.
Cut off a piece of wire 18% inches long. Overlap edges of wire to measure 5% inches in diameter. Tie ends securely.
Holding wire at top of last rnd, and working over it in order to conceal it, make sc in each sc around.
Still working over wire, make sc between each sc around.
Sc in each sc around.
* Sc in next sc, ch 1, skip 1 sc. Repeat from * around ending with a sl st in 1st sc.
Brim
Ch 4, * dc in next sp, ch 1, dc in next sc, ch 1. Repeat from * around ending with ch 1, sl st in 3rd st of ch-4.
Ch 4, * dc in next dc, ch 1. Repeat from * around. Join with a sl st in 3rd st of ch-4.
Overlap edges of remaining wire to measure 92 inches in diameter. Tie ends securely.
Holding wire at top of last rnd, and working over it, make * sc in next sp, sc in next dc. Repeat from * around. Join with a sl st in 1st sc. Break off.
Ruffle
Starting at inner edge, ch 78. Join.
Sc in each ch around.
* Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat from * around.
Sc in each sc around.
* 2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc. Repeat from * around.
Sc in each sc around. Sl st in last sc. Break off. Sew inner edge of Ruffle to edge of Brim.
Chain
Using 2 threads make a chain 30 inches long. Break off. Draw chain through the ch-1 rnd. Try Hat on and draw chain up to fit head. Tie ends in a bow.
Headband
Using 8 threads, make a chain long enough to fit around head. Break off. Sew ends of chain together. Tack Headband on wrong side at center of Hat and on each side to 1st rnd of Brim.
Finishing
Cut ribbon into 9 equal parts. Fold in half lengthwise and machine stitch through center. Tie into bows; sew bows evenly around Ruffle, % inch from edge.
